FORMER Liverpool defender Miki Roque has been diagnosed with cancer.
The 22-year-old Spaniard is to undergo surgery to remove a tumour from his pelvis.
Roque spent four years at Anfield between 2005 and 2009 and was part of the side that won the FA Youth Cup in 2006.
He made one substitute appearance for the Reds in the 2006 Champions League match against Galatasaray at the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul, where he replaced fellow Spaniard Xabi Alonso - the midfielder, now at Real Madrid, sent a message of support to Roque via Twitter yesterday :-
