Already 9 years? Fucking hell ... So much has changed since that miraculous night - personally and for our team ... Wow ... Maybe it's time to re-watch the full game?

One night in May 9 years ago - I think I fully explored my personal psychology of agony and ecstasy. A roller coaster of emotions and one I'm happy to say ended beautifully.

Five Times x

I'll always always remember feeling annoyed when we went 3-0 down, and then feeling better when we came back to equalise. Finally when we won the penalty shoot out I was really pleased.

Unforgettable.

The single greatest footballing occasion in my half-century plus as an LFC fan. I hope for more great occasions to come, but nothing will ever top that.

The single craziest day of my life from:

Reading the Times on the flight out from Manchester and spotting myself in a picture from the Chelsea semi final.
Getting the bus to the ground and walking the last mile.
The announcer begging in fact pleading with Liverpool fans to get off the stage as it was about to collapse.
The shock of being 3 nil down at half time and then laughing but joining in the chants of "we're gonna win 4-3"
The YNWA chant at half time.
Those 6 crazy minutes.
Jerzy's save in extra time.
Penalties.
The bus ride back to the airport and seeing the Turkish fans applauding and joining us in the victory celebrations.
Stuck at the airport for 7 hrs and almost getting on the wrong flight home.
Picking up every newspaper bar one upon arrival home to read about our exploits.
Getting 3 hrs sleep then driving to Liverpool to catch the parade.

I can recall every minute like it was yesterday, single best day of my life along with the birth of my daughter.

I remember I went into work that night, and everyone, including my boss was like 'the fuck are you doing here?, thought you'd be on the piss'. Should've went on a mad one.

Still annoys me to this day. But yea, decent result.

Like that 1977 clip, I used to love those commentators in the70s and 80s when it sounded like they were commentating down the phone and you could really hear the atmosphere I'm the background. Way better than hd.

Whenever i look back at that Milan line up it blows the mind even more, every one of them was a world class player for a period of time at least except the goalkeeper, Gattuso is debatable but he was very good at his job and is a World Cup winner.

Great post. I got some of those newspapers too, and I still have them.

I got the Echo on my way back to Ireland the day after the match (missed the parade). Put a few photos from the paper on the wall above my desk at work, and a few weeks later defaced the pic of Stevie lifting the trophy as he just announced he was leaving. If only I was away that day and left it 24 hours I wouldn't have had to do that 🙂

To this day I can see all of the goals, ours and theirs in my minds eye at will. I'll always remember the feeling of euphoria in the immediate aftermath of the victory, although I can't remember much of the party that followed.

I think I'll always be able to remember that match, I've not seen anything better before or since.
