Apologies if this has been done recently, but I'm new to this forum and all that get up...
Anyway, anyone else think it's like playing with ten men when Maxi plays?
He's a pretty useless waste of space who has somehow managed to forge a reputation in world football.
What's the general consenus about him on here?

Ive seen glimpses of an amazing footballer in him. Just not for us.
Welcome btw.

He's shite.

Lucas, Poulsen, and Maxi in the team = we're utterly fucked.

Cole's currently playing into that list too. Hope he improves.

He's a good technical footballer with very little redeeming physical left (small, weak and one paced; he used to be quicker). In Spain, he would be fine. In England, he's useless.

Welcome, Paul.

I think this might be a bit previous given the encouraging form Maxi showed in the latter stages of last season, and it's not as though many players have done much better this season either, so I'm reserving judgment until we get a new manager. If we don't, Maxi's not the only player who'll be well and truly f'cked.

He is indeed. Hope he sticks around. A little too optimistic when it comes to going into matches, but we'll learn him.

We already have "blind optimism" covered thanks to Dreamy, although he might do another of his legendary volte-face maneouvres and be the most pessimistic man in the world again. Who knows?

I want to see every technically gifted player we have on our books retained to see how a manager that favours that type of players does with them. the manner that our team is set up is making our attacking players look like CUNTS and I include torres in that.

That's true. We'll have to get Gorst a gimmick.

I can't see Dreamy turning until we're spanking Real Madrid 4-0 again. Where is he actually?

Hahaha. Good.

Maxi is no worse than any of Konchesky, Skrtel, Kyrgiakos, Jovanovic, Lucas, Poulsen, Ngog or Babel.

And therein lies the real problem. To many mediocre players starting week in week out and the results are simply mirroring this true fact.

I wouldn't mind a few of those players staying put as they'd be decent squadies but when fielded at the same time their obvious lack of quality blatantly shows.

I assume Agger isn't included in your list K because he isn't a starter week in week out due to being so injury prone 😉

He's not included mate because he's not a mediocre player. He is however a completely unuseful one whenever injured so you could argue that we should get rid of him as well.

That said with more than 120 games to his name in the Liverpool-shirt he should if nothing else be allowed another Season to prove his body can handle it. Whenever fit however he has got to play and NOT at LB.

The thing is that towards the back end of last season, he looked an extremely good player...one of our better performers at the time, so I'm not sure if he can't cut it in England.

Personally, I just wonder how much the lack of other countrymen (Masch & Insua) has affected him, if it has at all?

Or is it just the way we are approaching games now (no desire to go forward and god forbid, attack the opposition) thats got him playing like Lucas's distant Argentinian cousin?

Either way, he's a godd player, but fuckin hell he's playing like the CUNT 3 at the moment!!!

And Torres like cunt 4...

But thats mainly because Roy plays like Rafa i.e the shite, negative 4-2-3-1 with Gerrard drifting back in the middle, leaving Torres completely alone up front and looking like he doesnt give a shit.

Like others I saw a decent player at the end of last year, good toch and good brain. I think the issue is a mixture of things both to do with getting a little long in the tooth.
World Cup lag and I think players like Maxi find it hard to be brought in and out of the team.

regards

Yeah. That's why Torres hardly ever scored under Rafa.

He had some decent support at the time...
We havent seen the best of Torres for more than a year

Maxi has ability, and if we play nifty little one touch football with intelligent movement then this can be seen.

Sadly, we can only dream of that right now, and so he looks slow, lightweight and shit

To be fair, his record away from home isn't very good is it? (Torres, that is, not Roy)

I don't see the reason for having Maxi in the team, if his main duty is to track back and defend most of the time.
