Ok.. Went the Matthew St Festival today again, stocked with food, a couple of beers, a few mates, the kids and some family in toe.
Went down the main stage like normal to enjoy the tribute bands, have a laugh, a few drinks and make a day of it. So like any festival, there's always a few blurts throwing cans etc, but it's a family day, so consideration eh? So then it becomes glass bottles, cans squashed to the point where you may aswell be throwing a razorblade.
I had a word with a lad a few feet away who thought he'd throw a few flat cans in the air, despite the fact there was my three kids (and others) around him. To which he growled but stopped. Me suddenly realising that he was with 15 bellend mates in the same 'uniform' of grey t-shirt and trackies or black tracksuit top and black cap, throwing shit everywhere but bricking it whenever anything came back their way. They were causing havoc. Later on I saw a busker keeled over on Church Street with two coppers on horses trying to get a load of the same cunts together, obviously having given the poor guy a kicking or something.
Anyway, a few lads passed us covered in blood, having been hit by bottles/cans. So we called it a day, started making our way back towards town to head for food and then the last bus (7pm) home. Seemed it was good timing as it was all kicking off on the way back through the crowd at the main stage, again, all because of pricks throwing cans and bottles.
Gets the bus home, managing to get us all in seats, the bus fills up to the brim but it's a laugh, everyone is singing, having a can and heading home. Then we get over the bridge and head into Runcorn old town and all hell suddenly breaks loose over a kid smoking at the front of the bus and some old guy trying to make the lad put it out. Fight, girls being nobheads, chaos ensues and eventually someone has the sense to knock on the window of a nearby bizzie car and explain what's going on.
Bizzie gets on the bus, asks everyone to calm down, to which mouthy twat with ciggy decides to act the twat, despite me and a few others asking him (and his mates) to calm it down in respect of the kids (of which there was about a dozen on the bus). My mate gets off at this point because he and his missus are heading for a meal, he asks them lads kicking off to let him and his missus through and again, dickheads decide to call him for everything and jump off the bus after him. Thankfully he had the sense to walk on and head for the restaurant acting oblivious, leaving the pricks to shout abuse down the street at them before jumping back on the bus. So....
Said bizzy asks for calm, and 'prick' starts accusing him of victimisation, despite the fact some 30 odd people on the bus have seen everything. The bizzy holds him off infront of us, to which the dickhead now tries to say he's been assaulted, to which a fair few lads try to get in on (his mates) and start to gang up on the single bizzy. Bizzy conducts himself well, deals with the situation with aplomb but eventually has to spray the prick in the eyes to refrain him (and defend himself). To which a load of dickheads now jump off the bus ready to kick off, diving in trying to give the copper a kicking. Next minute the back up arrives and 7 police cars later... Some dick at the back of the bus (known him all my life, been taking tabs since he was 12, can't even look at you straight on a good day) starts calling the bizzies the usual shit, jumps of the bus and goes for the same copper, and ends up cuffed the same as a few others.
I realise this shit goes on all the time, and I realise that the police can be twats and they use their position to over-exert their authority at times, but this copper's behaviour was commendable, he did his job and didn't act the twat, he actually looked terrified at one point because he was alone and was being set upon by a load of scallys. So fair play.
Anyway, a few points. More than ever, there aren't half some pricks about, but this coppers behaviour reinstilled my faith in the force.
Well done son.
Next time I'm getting a babysitter.
Edit, should probably mention.. The guy who asked the lad to put out his ciggy, we saw giving a statement to the police on our way home. Later on he went off in an ambulance having got a kicking from someone. The busdriver sat in his seat while all this was going on. He came out once the police arrived to explain to the police what had gone on, he also got a hiding from a load of dickheads.
