Martin Kelly is out for the rest of the season

The defender, who had only just returned after a long lay-off with a knee injury, has been ruled out for the rest of the season after tearing his meniscus knee ligament in training.

It is the same injury Fernando Torres had in January and that ruled the striker out for six weeks. A similar lay-off is expected for Kelly which means an end to a promising season for the Academy graduate.

To be honest, he might as well be. We've got some important games ahead of us and we can't afford to play any reserves. Rafa would play Carra if Johnson got injured anyway...

But Kelly is definitely one for the future.
