I like him.

He's scored goals at Stuttgart, Bayern, and for Germany.

He needs to play regularly to be on top form though which is why he's struggled at Bayern of late. He'd always be second choice to Torres with us though.
 
He is the definition of a "confidence player". Long barren spells followed by productive high-scoring streaks. When he is on form, he is a formidable force, but if something affects his self-confidence, he is comically bad. He cannot be an effective second-choice striker. He is either first-choice, or 4th choice, with nothing in between.

That's not a good take on him. Either 1st or 4th choice. How about as a partner for Torres?

I don't know too much about the lad!
 
Now that we acutally don't have to offer clubs loan deals to bring strikers in to the club, I'd sign someone else. Firstly he's on massive wages, and secondly he'll cost a fortune.

There are much better strikers out there.
