In just want to put it out there, I lied.. Out of all the signings Rodgers made in the Summer, this lad so far has impressed me.. and we didn't even buy him !!

He is decent prospect and gives it his all every time I have seen him play.. He should be starting ahead of Johnson.. at least till flannagan is back..

So why doesn't Rodgers play him more often?

He's played him in most games, has he not...

He plays practically every game. 12 starts for us this season.. Johnson has played 10, some of which were at left back.

Has he.. ?

Maybe I am mixing him up with Moreno (who apart from Tottenham game has not been that great)

Even so... I'd play him instead of johnson, Manquillo that is..

Are you solely judging him on goals scored?

I'm not sure why you'd pick the Spurs game otherwise.

Other than the goal scored, I though he had a decent game..

There has been one or two others, but far too often he has reminded me of Drossena, getting caught out too easily, rather than Riise (in his pomp)

This is one of the reasons I want Benitez back.
Imo he helps players improve and if not manages to get the best out of them. Just look at the clubs some of the players we bought went to compared to where they came from.
We've got a small Spanish contingent in the squad. Manquillo, Suso, Enrique, Moreno etc, I think he can make them better.

Moreno is nothing like Dossena.
Moreno is tenacious, willing and pull of pace. The opposite of Dossena.

Moreno made a few personal errors where he failed to clear the ball (City being one of them) but you can see he has talent. I can't remember Doss making errors. I just remember him being garbage. He did have those two glorious moments with goals against United and Madrid in a week.

Moreno is still a kid and will make some stupid mistakes while he's learning.

I'm shocked that Rodgers has now played Johnson twice over him at left back. Bizzarre.

Moreno is nothing like Dossena. Nothing.

He's solid. I like his attitude, his workrate, his courage. He does need coached though because he gets caught out of position, he often marks on the wrong side, and he is a little over-eager on occasion.

He won't get coached with us though. His kinks won't get ironed out ,and his weaknesses will begin to get more and more exposed by better players. In 6 months time, we'll be calling him shite, and arguing that we need Flanagan/McLaughlin/Wisdom or a new right back in there because he's a "defensive liability."

We need to improve players like him. To educate him how to defend on a weekly basis, to work on his deficiencies, and to build him into the quality player he could be. Every week I see him getting caught on the wrong side of an attacker - it's a basic mistake, an unintentional one sure, but a fixable one nonetheless. Those basic mistakes aren't getting fixed - you can see he's not being taught, because if he was then he wouldn't be continually making them.

Under this Manager, this kid will not improve as a full-back.

exactly

I've been pretty impressed so far and although he's raw, he's definitely a prospect. It's a shame he's getting no help from the centre backs or keeper

It most be nice, Modo, when Ryan appears and posts a cohesive and structured argument that is exactly what you think.

It makes me wonder why you don't try posting something similar instead of the usual sack Rodgers, hire Benitez, play Lucas & lament the sales of Agger & Riena stuff.

I'm not a good writer.

Often Ryan is the one following in modos opinion

Apparently

Ryan piggy backs Modo's opinions Del.
Damn, beat me to it

I also love the mild xenophobia in modos post

"being Spanish, rafa CLEARLY can get the best out of them"

Ignoring the fact Rodgers speaks fluent Spanish, and rafa alienated our best ever Spanish player

I can't safely say that if I ever need to pillage someone else's thoughts in the football forum (which is pretty fucking unlikely let's face it), that it most certainly won't be those of Modo.

Hey, you do what your want.

If you think rafa is the answer then go nuts.

Just a shame he wasnt the answer when he managed us the first time

Thanks.

He didn't improve any player in his last 2 years with us.

He made the team worse. Reina got fat. Torres got moody. Gerrard was meh.

Mascher was the only one who looked good and that was due to his Argentinian tenacity

He
Alienates
Players
