also deserves his own thread.

In a season where he's been questioned over and over he's bettered last seasons return already and his assists are up.

I thought he was superb last night worked his socks off the whole game.

Coming into goal scoring form at just the right time and rubbishing claims he's jealous of Salah.

I can see him winning us the final.

He is the scary one in our team. Why ? Because of the front 3 .. he is most unpredictable as to what he may do. If I was a defender i would have a set playbook on dealing with salah and bobby but Mane ... would have no idea.

He's still not using his pace as much as he should do, IMHO - I mean, as a defender you would surely be terrified to see him knock the ball past you and run, but there's almost a Cisse-like reluctance to do so. It's great though that he seems to have regained his confidence, and his work rate is superb.

He's had some right sketchy games this season, but maintained great productivity. Of the front three he's the least consistent, where the other two rarely have an off day.

All that said last 2 months he's been back to somewhere near his best after sulking until January that the world and his wife was blowing the Egyptian like a fucking trumpet.

We really really need to be resolute and keep all three of them this summer. We know they will come knocking. We know FSG like to take the money......

I was going to mention Mane .. I thought he was right up there with AA and Milner as our best players last night. He put in a massive shift and was superb both in covering back and helping out in MF and Robertson in defence and especially in attack where Walker was all over the place trying to cover him. Immense.

I think Coutinho going has something to do with his upturn in form. I read somewhere with Klopp saying the difference without Coutinho is that we no longer do the 4 yard pass to Coutinho when he comes deep. There is no longer a ball hungry player that we have to give the ball to all the time and we can play a faster and more expansive football.

Without Coutinho, Mane is getting more space to maneuver instead of having the space squeezed by Coutinho dribbling the ball up field. We can move the ball faster to Mane who can do his one-twos and sprints and most importantly give him the space he likes and needs to operate effectively.

I keep hearing Milner won't be able to perform at this level next season. Is there a reason other than it's just an accepted fact? I'd have him as captain.

He's 32 now mate. I remember reading how Gerrard and Carra said they knew their time had come. Milner is super fit and keeps himself in great condition but there's no denying age in the end (and the even higher standards I expect us to be playing at next season). A great player to have in the squad for his last 2-3 seasons with us though.

And was superb when he moved over to protect TAA

At 2-0 I put £25 on Manè to score 2. 28/1. I was gutted he didn’t score that chance in the second half.

I’ve noticed recently that he’s a very intelligent player at times. He does more than I thought for his team mates. He hasn’t always been like that.

We needed a player ( since Lallana is injured and Coutinho is gone) to pick up the ball in deep lying positions and carry us up the pitch. Mane is great at this lately. He can go left or right, he can protect the ball and he can skip past the midfielder to springboard an attack. He's a nightmare for other teams.

7 in his last 7 CL games. Can't wait til he makes it 10 in 10 and we've a final to look forward too.

My favourite player in our current squad. Since he got over his suspension and injury hes been largely excellent.

He's been brilliant. I definitely think there was an underlying issue with either him getting used to playing on the left or carrying an injury, because he wasn't going full pelt for the first 4-5 months of the season. He's back to using his pace again to go at players.

The reason I love Mane is the fact that he has the ability to simply blast in unstoppable rocket shots...

we are very VERY fucking dangerous that team of ours...

Klopp has mane given specific instructions to play more centrally / closer to the goal which means we don't see the explosive power and pace he showed last season. It can be argued this move has worked as he now has more goals and assists this season than last.

He is really lifting his performances at the moment. What I love is that to the neutral he's become impotent since Salah joined but these past couple of games he has been critical to us winning. Onwards Sadio!

If there wasn't any proof that Mane did not intend malice when he went for that 50-50 ball against City earlier this season when he was sent off, last night's shithousery by Ederson before they were both shown a yellow was testament to Mane's character. He could have easily reacted wrongly to Ederson pushing him multiple times provocatively, but Mane just shrugged it off. That Salah's goal was a result of Ederson lunging into Mane was a fitting cherry on top.

A terrific performance, with a work rate that was exceptional. He does keep falling over expecting free kicks, and refs clearly don't believe him even when it's genuine, so he simply cannot afford to leave us (albeit briefly) a man short in situations like he did last night. But how he buzzed about from right to left to centre and back - fantastic. And his mentality was spot on - it was outrageous how City's players tried to get him sent off when he slipped into that challenge, and, as reuque noted above, he carried on so well after that.

Good spot.

He put in a fucking good performance today... got one and went close on a couple of other occcassions and generally caused havoc.
