Mancini said: "If they put Steven Gerrard, Javier Mascherano and Fernando Torres on the market, City will be interested.

"We at City will do everything possible to prevent Liverpool from finishing fourth."

Not a very nice way of putting it. "will do anything possible to finish fourth" would've been better.

He's new in England. Maybe we can convince him that losing Lucas, Dossena and Voronin would massively hinder our chances?

Maybe, he does seem like a right arrogant fucker though. First he say's they are going for the title, now this. I do fear they will pull off getting fourth ahead of us though.
Nightmare scenario to say the least.

even if they don't do it this season, we'll still have fuck all to spend in the summer and they'll be much stronger next season. i'm really down about our future at the moment.

if we had the extra 30 mill a year, which we throw away on debt interest, to spend on players and wages, i'd be more than happy with our prospects.

It is a worry that he is already talking about stealing our players.
Hopefully we'll be fine in January but we'll have a job hanging onto these players in the summer.

It'll be like Chelsea and Stevie Gerrard all over again.

I can't see Gerrard going but I'm trying to prepare myself emotionally for Torres to leave.
he'll be here for another 2 years minimum, i reckon.

I think that's wishful thinking.
why? you mean the yanks will take the money?

torres will not want out that soon, i am certain.

If you say so. I don't think he'll necessarily hang around if it's clear we're in decline and no longer in with a realistic shout in the CL.

i agree, but i'm saying it will take 2 years to see if that's the case, really.

Mascherano will probably go.

I'd like to think Torres will stay for at least another season regardless of where we finish. Same for Gerrard.

The worrying thing is with the money that will be offered to us, the Yanks are bound to be tempted.

Even if offers are accepted the players can still tell them to go do one. Can't they?
I'm sure Torres and Gerrard would stay one season more at least. I think Mascher would be off in a shot.

If we finish 5th or 6th and the club let's him know we're willing to sell him to City and we've no big signings lined up, and in the meantime city are seen buying increasingly impressive players, then he could consider leaving in the summer.

well if the club say they're willing to sell him then it's a different story. he will be gone and things will get very bad.

I'll continue.....And if Benitez is sacked we could see a Spanish exodus.

The only Spanish ones who matter are Torres and Reina, both of whom I don't think would leave just because of Rafa.

edit: serious question, despite the media loving it, how often does a pleyer actually leave because he's unhappy the manager has been sacked/left?

Remember when Jose left the chavs, and all the talk was that Drogba and co would follow him out......

Didn't Torres say in an interview a while back, when Rafa's relations with the owners were looking rocky, that Rafa leaving wouldn't cause him to do the same?

All three of these players have been in print recently bigging the club up and saying how committed they are to bringing success to LFC. Nobody's patience is infinite but I don't see Torres leaving any time soon, or Stevie ever doing so. Masher unfortunately may be another matter, though even there I don't think that's down to his own preferences.

Yes he has mate.

I don't think they'll leave just because Rafa might. They'll only go if they don't think they can achieve what they want to in the game with us.

Agreed mate, and I reckon they'll take a lot of convincing.

This is just an opening salvo by Mankini announcing his "arrival". We're in the worst form of any of the Big Four at the moment, so we're his first target to overtake if he can. That's all there is to it IMO. It's up to us to shove it back down his throat.

I think most doom and gloom followers underestimate Torres love for the club.
He will at least give it another couple of goes, if we miss out on 4th. I have no fear what so ever about that.

Mancini has been in charge for 2 games, and he has already adopted the "we can buy anyone" mentality.
I hate the cunt already.
