Lucas, Spearing and Meireles were excellent as well, but it's the movement and the intelligence of the front three that was the special thing about today's performance.

Role for role he was just as good, if not better. Lucas was everywhere, doing the dirty work and helping everyone out and keeping possession. He provides the platform for the likes of Suarez.

Lucas - I can't be bothered reiterating the ratings once again but he was the best player we had - though Suarez was very good.

Was tempted to give Ming, Kuyt or Skrtel a place but figured Maxi deserved a spot even though he touched the ball no more than 9 times in midfield.

I'll be interested to see what the other sites - who haven't been quite so heavily influenced by Brendan and co - have to say on the MoM.

Ming was involved in all our best attacking moves, constantly finding space, picking clever passes. Maxi was mostly on the periphery. To paraphrase somebody (can't remember who): all he did was score three goals.

Well done. You seem to have grasped admirably the concept that, by putting Lucas ahead of Suarez and Maxi, I think he was the best of the three players.

However, if I've misinterpreted the whole idea of this thread and I must seek your approval before I make my choice, plese feel free to put me right next time. If you post first, then we'll all have the benefit of your massive intellect and will surely all go along with your selections, o wise one
 
Easy does it. If you didn't want that kind of comment coming back at you, why put on there that Lucas was best "by a mile"?

Not sure why I bothered, out of curiosity I guess, but I've just skimmed through a few of his posts, thinking he was a newbie, it seems he's got a bit of a thing for Lucas. And a bit of a thing for jumping on the defensive and acting like a cunt whenever anyone slags the Brazilian lad off.
