I'm not that convinced with Lovren and to an even greater extent, Sakho. Lallana did well in the second half before getting hooked, but he's missed alot of football. Markovic, as I said, looked like he will take a while to get going.
 
coutinho ..... almost scored and kept trying
sterling ..... big mistake not to start him.
manquilo.... reminds me of Arbeloa defends well .

Coutinho frustrates the fuck out of me. Performances like these make me think he's never going to be world class. He spent the first 25 mins of the game doing absolutely nothing - strolling about and waiting for someone to play the ball to him. Not once did he demand the ball or try to drop deep.

To be fair, this changed a lot thereafter, but then he was usual frustrating self. Too intricate at times, and the shots just not coming off. I suspect Lallana will take his spot in the first team very soon.

Anyways. It's tough because nobody was faultless. Both FBs played well, a slight slip from each aside. Sakho had a decent game and is just edged out of Top 3. Gerrard was fine. Henderson was his usual Energiser-Bunny self but didn't create anything. Lovren at fault for the goal otherwise he'd be in there at #2.

Coutinho - slow start in the first half as he was harassed and harried to death by Delph, Cleverly and Westwood. Came alive once Sterling came on and he immediately found more space.
Moreno - always an outlet down the left and provided excellent width and attacking impetus.
Manquillo - similar to Moreno in that he was always available and rarely gave the ball away. Maybe need to think before crossing but at least the crosses pretty much all made it into the penalty area.

Very surprised people thought Coutinho did well.

I thought he was wasteful and shite

Coutinho was playing very deep. I don't know whether this was the plan, but it prevented him from doing what he is good at.
