Luiz Adriano is a cunt ...

It's an understanding. One that everyone is aware of. I think it should be scrapped though, and they just give an indirect free kick to the team last in possession of the ball.

It is just as much a rule as falling down without anyone touching you can result in a booking coming your way. Do you think that is an understanding only?

A free-kick rule would be extremely vulnerable as teams would constantly try and exploit that option.

*Imagines 11 Italians falling over themselves outside the box with two minutes to go*

The are hundreds of thousands of footballers that knows this rule and live by it, and has done so ever since they were children, so when one team/player steps over the line they should be punished severely.

Compare this to when UEFA fined Bendtner £100,000 plus a one match ban for flashing his underpants during the Euros....

Anyways the ref could've just yellow-carded him for unfair play and given the other team a freekick. Done.

And that is against the rules

Against the rules? The FA Used 104 pages with rules to throw the book at him. There is a rule for everything... How would it look if the FA started to rule by their own? The football world would go bananas!!

The referees need to be able to disallow goals like that, it ruined the momentum and temperament in the game not to mention they didn't actually give a goal back.

Whats to stop us being 1-0 down to someone shite like QPR, then scoring a goal like that and letting them run around wound up for 10minutes going mental. We give them a goal back and they aren't the same team that were 1-0 up.

Didn't Arsenal end up replaying a cup match with Sheffield United because of this?

I was happy with this result. Anything which ends in Chelsea going out is a good thing. But disgusted looking at that goal. Would the ref have been ciricized for carding Adriano and awarding a free kick? It was unsportsman-like behaviour.

The ref could have done that... They can do what they want.

KHL, I know how you feel. I'm sorry. It's inexcusable and makes me angry too. I think it's a failure of the coach and the captain Srna, who couldn't make it clear to the rest of the team that the Danish team should be allowed to score. Even after Stepanenko tackled Stokholm, they could and should have let them score.

I am against any official sanctions of any sort, becuase I think there is value in having some unwritten rules and it's wrong to turn them into written rules, which kills the sportsmanship element of it. UEFA shouldn't intervene, but the club, if they still have any sense, should fine the players who brought such negative publicity to what was supposed to be a moment of triumph.
