Some sort of pun about having a well known member

It's quiet in here today, so how about a game? We have to compile a squad of the best Liverpool players based on their squad number. Eg. Liverpool's greatest ever number 25 will be Reina, but what about best ever number 4? There can be only one player per number. Let's go up to 25.

I'm a bit too young to remember the numbers most of the older players wore, so will need some help.

1. Clemence
2.
3.
4. Nicol
5.
6.
7. Dalglish
8. Gerrard
9. Rush
10. Barnes
11. Souness
12. Hyypia
13.
14. Alonso
15.
16.
17.
18. Owen
19.
20.
21. Lucas
22. Insua (!)
23. Carragher
24. Allen
25. Reina

6 could be Hughes or Hansen. Most of the others would be hard to decide between two or three candidates. 23 is surely Carra's by now, isn't it?

We'll have some gash in there as well. Who the fuck has ever wore 22?

21. Lucas
24. Allen

Yeah didn't know whether to put Carragher or Fowler in there. I'll change it. Just felt wrong having a squad with no Fowler.

13 - Spud
15 - Berger

Must of the older players wore 1-11....didn't they

I love Agger but I'm afraid Ray gets that number for me. (Fudgie, quick, give Agger the number 3, sharpish!)

To be honest I don't really know how good Kennedy was nor what type of player he was? A Gerrard type or more of a Alonso or Molby kind of player?

Hard to say, really. He was a Kennedy type of player. I don't mean that facetiously, I just mean he always seemed a one-off. Positionally he was very disciplined, but he retained a striker's eye for attacking space and scoring goals, and he had the most sublime touch with his left foot.

What number was finnan? I'm thinking 3.

I don't know if it's taken

My two all-time childhood favourites both wore 5... Ray Kennedy, then Ronnie Whelan. I liked Ray so much that Swansea immediately became my 'other' team when he left us!

Heart says Ronnie, head say Ray. Fuck it, I'm going with Ronnie.

If he hadn't been made of glass, no.2 would unquestionably have been Rob Jones by now, but it's hard to look beyond Phil Neal, isn't it?

Jockey has to get 6... As great as Emlyn was, Hansen might be our greatest ever defender.
