Liverpool - Yuri Zhrikov linked with summer Anfield switch

Liverpool have reportedly been placed on alert to the availability of Chelsea winger Yuri Zhirkov.
The versatile Russian has expressed a desire to leave his current club after failing to hold down a first team place, and Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is thought to be one of those interested in signing the player, according to sportsvibe.
Zhirkov has the ability to play in the left back position also, something that could be crucial in the decision making process of Liverpool as they look to fill the problem position long-term at Anfield.
Glen Johnson has filled in admirably after Paul Konchesky was allowed to join Nottingham Forest on loan, but it's widely expected that 'King Kenny' will make a move for a player in this position come the end of the season.
"My only target at the moment is to get back into the main Chelsea team. If I'm successful with that, all the other issues will resolve themselves," Zhirkov told The Shite.
"But if I fail to achieve that between now and the summer, I will start thinking of other possibilities."
Zhirkov signed for the Blues back in 2009 for £18 million, but the former CSKA Moscow star has struggled to settle in the English capital and finds himself behind Florent Malouda and Ashley Cole in the pecking order at the club.
Liverpool could offer the player an avenue out of the Barclays Premier League club, and the promise of first team football would be crucial were they to secure the player's signature.
A7 27, the player has experience at both domestic and international level, and would offer Liverpool a variety of options on Merseyside.
He isn't the only left-sided player on the Anfield radar though, with Jose Enrique and Taye Taiwo just two reportedly being monitored by Liverpool.
