Assuming that this is all bollocks and we manage to keep hold of Gerrard and Torres..

---------------Reina------------------
Johnson--Carra-Agger-Figueroa
---------------Gilberto---------------
----------Gerrard--Aquilani--------
--J.Cole------Torres---Jovanovic

Keeper, Skrtel, Kelly, Lucas, Shelvey, Klose, Kuyt, Maxi, Pacheco

Would you take that, given our current financial predicament?

What's cole like tracking back?

Kuyt helps Glenjo out big time on the right.

Hmmm

I'd rather we lined up like this utilizing the places you've highlighted.. Although I doubt we'll sign Klose..

Reina

Johnson Carra Agger Figueroa

Kuyt Gerrard Aquilani Cole

Torres Klose/New striker

And Gilberto can fuck off, too

If Masher goes, buy someone like Banega, Moutinho (oh too late), or any one of the many young-ish promising holding midfielders playing in Europe

I'm thinking of money, but yeah, I couldn't really think of anyone else and Gilberto would be nothing more than a stopgap, but Banega would be good, isn't Moutinho more attacking?

Regards Cole on the right, it could easily look more like this, because I'm loathe to kick Kuyt out the side:

---------------Reina----------------
Johnson-Carra-Agger-Figueroa
--------------------DM---------------
------------Gerrrard----------------
--Kuyt----------------------J.Cole-
----------Torres--Klose------------

They shouldn't need a holding player.
They should. Both leave holes all over the place in midfield. If Alonso and Gerrard can be overran (as we saw against Arsenal and Milan, and even shite like Blackburn) then Aquilani and Gerrard certainly can. Especially when you consider Gerrard is now older and hasn't really played their much in the last couple of years.

wait, you want a 4'8" Moutinho who normally plays further up the field?

Shouldn't need a holding player? Have you ever watched Aquilani play? Have you ever watched a game of modern football?
Every team has one
Aquilani probably needs fucking *two*

Haha, sorry
Letall: his height is irrelevant, although I might not have the right player in mind if Moutinho is an AM

Any more foreign holding players?

I don't want Joe Cole either

I used to hate him, then for a season or two I really liked him, now I'm ambivalent

Wages and injury record would be a worry

Add Turan to that lot and i'd be a very happy fan.

You are, I think, talking about his teammate, Miguel Veloso ...

Where are you getting Klose from? Haven't seen anything in the press ???

Kuyt and Cole can play as wide forwards supporting a lone striker however are not suited to a 4-4-2 set up.

Poor old Maxi, despite having a decent World Cup, seems to have dropped off everyone's radar.

Dirk Kuyt should always be in a Liverpool XI (except when he gets too old of course)
Unless we have somebody better than him in the same position

i'd sooner start maxi than kuyt. But i'm not kuyts biggest fan.

Letall> Veloso is one, but not the one I'm thinking of...er, I'm not being very helpful, I am sure his name will come to me though

Raul Meireles? He usually plays well but he's not that young anymore (28 I think) and his physique might be a concern.

Spain's Javi Martinez is another one and we've been linked with him last summer, I haven't seen him play but some site members used to rave about him.

Martinez and Defour are the two I meant, but failed to remember
I'd have both, but i think defour is the more likely a he shouldn't cost too much, Martinez might struggle away from his basque home (he is the bilbao lad right??), and at least Defour has got a mate in fellaini close by so it might avoid any masch based "i'm dead sad me" scenario

Banega is a good shout, but Mark's team doesn't look bad at all. I'd take Gilberto Slva as a squad player at least.

Banega would a least be a return to a more "Xabi" type deep lying midfielder.

I'd still prefer Asamoah though. He's hot poo Robin.
