A MAN was shot dead and two others seriously injured in a triple shooting outside a fast food outlet in Sydney's southwest last night.

A truck driver was fatally shot in the head in his white prime mover outside a KFC outlet on the corner of Milperra Rd and Henry Lawson Drive, Milperra at 11pm.

The truck's headlights were still on as paramedics worked to treat the man but he died at the scene from massive head injuries.

A short time later another man went to Bankstown Hospital with gunshot wounds to the stomach.

A third man suffering chest wounds was taken by paramedics to Liverpool Hospital.

They were last night both in a serious but stable condition.

It is believed the shootings are bikie-related but police refused to comment early this morning.

Police locked down an area near the intersection of Henry Lawson Drive and Milperra Road.

State Crime Command detectives and the riot squad were at the scene, as the search for the gunman or gunmen continued.

The Pol Air helicopter circled the area early this morning.

The police dog squad arrived shortly after midnight, with the ballistics dogs searching the KFC carpark for stray bullet casings.

A line of about 20 police officers armed with torches walked through the carparks of the KFC and the adjoining Aldi supermarket searching for clues.

Milperra Rd was closed in both directions for several hours as police scoured the scene.

The truck - with TNT B-double trailers attached - was left parked over two lanes with both the driver and passenger doors open. The body of the dead man remained in the cabin for several hours.

At Bankstown Hospital, a policecar was outside with officers believed to be guarding the injured man.
