we missed Johnson (or Kelly), we missed Gerrard. We played the ball into Carroll far too often and we gave away FAR too many fouls 17 to Sunderland's 12 (Adam & He who must not be named prime amongst them).

If Kuyt had started I am confident Flanagan would have looked a lot better. Also I think we would have won.

The lack of desire to win in the second half was unacceptable. Carroll should have done more. Flannagan was poor. Downing had great moments but disappeared for me. No one took the game by the scruff of the neck today, not even Suarez.
