Bola News today reports that Liverpool have earmarked a move for Real Mallorca forward Tomer Hemed as a potential striker target.
Brendan Rodgers seems destined to bring in a striker in the January transfer window as he seeks to beef up an attacking line that currently has to heavily rely on Uruguayan Luis Suarez, even more so since youngster Fabio Borini suffered a broken foot injury.
The 25 year old striker left Maccabi Haifa to try his luck in La Liga and after a steady first season at Mallorca, during which he netted ten goals in 35 appearances, the powerfully built striker has started the current campaign with a bang netting six goals in eight matches, placing him just below the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Radamel Falcao in the top scorer rankings.
Hemed has also displayed similarly deadly form for his national team, scoring five goals in his last two Euro 2012 qualifying appearances.
Though the Israeli isn’t exactly a household name he may be the type of in-form and inexpensive options Rodgers could consider given that the Anfield boss doesn’t appear to be enjoying the same level of transfer funding as his predecessor Kenny Dalglish.
