Sure to intensify should the earlier Bobby Mimms rumors become true.

Liverpool are monitoring the performances of Blackburn goalkeeper Paul Robinson amid growing concerns that Manchester United and Arsenal will step up their interest in Pepe Reina this summer.

Reina can leave Anfield if a rival club triggers a £20 million escape clause in the Spaniard’s contract and the 28 year-old admitted recently that he is keen to play for a club capable of “fighting for titles†after winning just one trophy – the FA Cup – since leaving Atlético Madrid for Liverpool in 2005.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish said last month that he expected Reina to remain at the club in the long term, but it is understood that former England goalkeeper Robinson is being considered as a possible replacement should Reina be tempted away from Merseyside at the end of the season.

Edwin van der Sar’s planned retirement at United this summer has raised the alarming prospect of Liverpool losing Reina to their bitter rivals, who visit Anfield this Sunday, but United are also watching Schalke’s Manuel Neuer, Holland keeper Maarten Stekelenburg and Spanish youngster David de Gea.

Stekelenburg and Neuer are also on Liverpool’s radar, along with Lyon’s Hugo Lloris
, but Robinson’s resurgence at Blackburn since his £3.5 million arrival from Tottenham in 2008 has been noted at Anfield.

The 31 year-old is viewed as a risk-free option having performed at the highest level with England, and he can also point to Champions League experience during his formative years with Leeds United.

And with just over two years to run on his contract at Ewood Park, Robinson is likely to be the least expensive option available to Liverpool should Reina leave the club.

Neuer, who impressed for Germany during last summer’s World Cup, is believed to be United’s first choice to replace Van der Sar.

The 24 year-old has a £12.8 million escape clause in his contract at Schalke and is also of interest to Bayern Munich, but Schalke chairman Clemens Tönnies claims United have already registered their interest.

Tönnies said: “An international agent approached me and informed me that Manchester United are interested in Neuer. If Manchester United make a written inquir then we will deal with it.â€

Robinson to replace Reina? Fucking hell.

And I thought he joined us from Villareal? That error makes me doubt the report.

Robinson is terrible, did anyone see him at the weekend? Fucking hell, he makes Jamo look like safe hands.

I like the way it says that Robinson has performed at the highest level for England. He most certainly did not perform at the highest level, which is precisely why England, and Tottenham, fucked him off. If Reina goes, we shold be looking at the (next) best keepers in the world. Not Paul fucking Robinson.

Pepe "gets" us.

*Mutley grumble*

This makes my bottom weep like a Greggs donut.

Certainly won't happen. More paper shite... Although i once said it about Torres, I'd be very surprised if he went to another English club.

Its been depressing being a selling club but Pepe FFS.... cmon pepe just stay another season and we will get back in the CL.

Its not as though time isn't on his side.

And Robinson can get fucked he is shat.

The thing is he's worth 20m to any club on the planet, so even if Manure sparked a battle to sign him by offering that amount, I doubt they'd be the only ones offering 20 for him. At which point, unless my understanding is very skewed, it would be up to us where he went.

But if he is going to Manure then I hope they sort it out soon, because if that happens I'm out. I can't keep following this ridiculous game if it means so little any more. I don't want to have renewed and this to happen. I could have had a nice holiday instead.

he's not going

I'm not as confident as you Fabio but let's wait and see what happens.

Robinson can fuck right off.

He's not fit to lace Pepe's boots
[/quote]

because his belly gets in the way when he has to bend?

I've been told he's going. I'm not sure how reliable it is, but it is somebody who comes into contact with the player himself.

I'm taking it with a pinch of salt.

And has shoulder problems, is aging, hasnt played regularly for ages. Given would possibly be a worse idea than Robinson
