Liverpool may offer Lucas, Babel for Wolfsburg star Dzeko

Wolfsburg want players in Liverpool's offer for Edin Dzeko.

The News of the World says new Wolfsburg boss Steve McClaren will play hard ball over the 24-year-old should Liverpool make their interest concrete.

Sources suggest that they want Liverpool to give them Ryan Babel and Lucas Leiva plus cash for a player they value at about £30m.

Liverpool risk losing out in the race to sign Dzeko because of the uncertainty over the future of manager Rafael Benitez and their American owners.

But their preliminary moves suggest they are already preparing seriously for the possibility of losing Fernando Torres.
