Liverpool FC sell Nikolay Mihaylov to FC Twente for £1.5million
Feb 4 2010 By James Pearce

LIVERPOOL have banked £1.5million from the sale of goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov to FC Twente.

The 21-year-old Bulgarian arrived at Anfield from Levski Sofia in 2007 but never made a first team appearance for the Reds.

He has been sent out on loan to Dutch outfit Twente for the past three seasons and now the move has been made permanent.

Former England coach Steve McClaren, who is boss of the Eredivisie joint leaders, sees Mihaylov as the perfect long-term replacement for veteran Sander Boschker.

The sale of Mihaylov means the Reds banked over £6million during the January transfer window with Andriy Voronin and Andrea Dossena also moving on.

None of it was spent on strengthening the squad with Maxi Rodriguez, who was snapped up on a free transfer from Atletico Madrid, the only new arrival.

Yes but paying off our debts comes first.

Yeah, pull up the drawbridges. Makes me fume the way that most of Europe can sign who they want from wherever they want cept England.

Employment law in Spain is very tough and you need to have a job before you can expect any kind of state help. But If you are a very rich football player you are welcomed with open arms.

The Uk is the opposite: Don't have a pot to piss in? Step this way, have hot and cold running council houses and benefits galore!

Whats's that?

You're a professional football player? Earning good money? Sorry son, not here you don't.

Yeah but to be fair to The Home Office, they've probably looked at Rafa's previous pleas and laughed the case out of the office.

You're right. I expect all of our youth team are on benefits. 😉

Anyone know how much we bought him for and how much we paid him in salary?

Wages = 0 as he was out on loan from the moment we got him so he could get a permit. I'm sure he was involved in some gangster thing a while ago no? He definitely had a Ferrari or something like that aswell..

You're not wrong Jim. He did get involved with naughty types

1.5M for a nothing keeper is good business.

Certainly better than 100,000.
[/quote]

15 times better, certainly.
