Chelsea will have their storngest XI available to them on Sunday.

Of course that goes without saying - but who will be available !

since joe cole has a virus and he travelled with them, so maybe only drogba will be virus free come sunday! heheheh

Cech is suspended which can only be a good thing.

Hilario

Bosingwa - Terry - Carvalho - A. Cole?

Mikel

Essien - Ballack?

Lampard

Drogba - Anelka

Who would come in for Ballack and Cole if they were injured? Someone pretty fucking good would be my guess. Basically, their only real weak point is in goal. We need to try and get lots of shots and crosses in to try and exploit this.

I have a feeling it'll be a high-scoring game. We'll need to score at least three to win IMO.

Belletti – Essien - Lampard – Malouda
or or
Kalou Zhirkov
or
Cole

Anelka

Drogba

Supposedly Ballack & Mikel are now big doubts.

John Terry insists Chelsea will be ready for the visit of Liverpool on Sunday despite an unconvincing win over Apoel Nicosia in the Champions League. Nicolas Anelka's 18th-minute goal earned them victory but the performance did not please coach Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian had wanted more from his side after their 3-1 defeat at the hands of Wigan on Saturday but they failed to shine in Cyprus.

COME ON YOU BEAUTIFUL REDMEN!

Man for man I believe our 1st IX to be stronger than that of Chelsea.

Taking home advantage into account I think we are still very capable of a win.

The season starts here - Are we pretenders of the crown, or will we shine?

Play with your heart! Use your skills. Use your heads. Use your feet. Time to shine.

All our victories against Chelsea in the last few years were mainly due to our midfield dominance. While they had some strong individual players in the midfield, our midfield trio gelled better with our strategy and the rest of the team.

I'm not sure we are able to draw on that this time around. I'm worried. We have been significantly weakened. We should just hope Torres gives Terry a torid time and wins the game for us.

I Agree. The game may be decided on which one of Torres or Drogba plays out of his skin, its impossible to stop them when on fire.

I thought Chelsea played a midfield diamond under Ancelotti?

Bunny - move Lampard forward and Essien into the middle and there's your diamond.

Michael Ballack has recovered from the calf problem which kept him out of last weekend's defeat at Wigan.

Benitez now hopes the Argentine will be fit enough to start Sunday’s trip to West London. He said, “Javier trained today so hopefully he will be fit for Sunday. For us he is a key player. He is a very good worker in the middle and he can keep the balance of the team.â€

Meanwhile Benitez added that he has been impressed with Daniel Agger’s progress after suffering from a back injury and hinted the Danish international could be included in the squad this weekend.

“Daniel trained today. I watched the DVD of the reserve game and he did well,†continued Benitez. “Maybe he will have a chance for Sunday – we will see. “He is a player who can defend really well but he also has quality in possession. It will be good to have him back.€

Drogba said: 'Games against Liverpool are always big but this one is vital for us. 'We need to win it, we can't afford to lose more points because they are coming back strong after a difficult start to the season.

After his last operation, Alberto Aquilani was given around two months to recover – and that was six weeks ago.

He is now running normally and it is felt that his recovery is slightly ahead of schedule. Liverpool are hoping that he can join the group this month and be a regular starter by November, possibly playing within two to three weeks.

However, internally, there is a higher priority: to sort out his ankle problems once and for all and he will not be rushed back until all are convinced. His career has been interrupted by too many injuries and a team-mate of his at Roma tells me that if he can play more regularly and injury free then he is easily worth £10million more than the £20million paid for him.

Liverpool are hoping that as well, which is why patience is the key…
