Liverpool appeal against goalkeeper Alexander Doni's ban
Liverpool have appealed against goalkeeper Alexander Doni's red card at Blackburn Rovers in a bid to make him available for Saturday's FA Cup semi-final against Everton at Wembley.
If the Brazilian's dismissal stands, it will rule him out of the match.
Liverpool's first-choice goalkeeper Pepe Reina is already suspended, leaving third-choice Brad Jones as the most likely option in goal.
An FA hearing will decide on Thursday whether to overturn the red card.
Doni was dismissed by referee Anthony Taylor in the 26th minute of Tuesday's 3-2 win at Ewood Park for bringing down Rovers midfielder Junior Hoilett.
It is believed Liverpool will not deny contact was made with Hoilett, but will attempt to argue that Doni was not the last man and, therefore, did not deny Blackburn a clear goalscoring opportunity.
The independent commission has the power to increase the standard suspension by one match if it deems the appeal to be frivolous.

Pointless. They didnt overturn a red card when the player comitted no foul AND the player he didnt foul was offside.

They WILL say no. Still, massive confidence boost for Jones ahead of the biggest game of his career.
Comolli you fucking potato headed oaf.

I still don't think it was a red. Yes he was the last man but the Blackburn player moved the ball sideways, away from goal and towards one of our defenders before Doni brought him down.

They overturned Friedel's red card and that was similar, so lets hope.

it was a little different, in Brad's case the player actually ran into him, Brad made no movement. In Doni's case he moves towards the ball, misses, and brings the player down. I doubt it'll get overturned, but you never know with the FA!

It's been denied

'Oh well we're stuck with Brad then.....where is Brad anyway?'
'Im right here boss'
*looks at Brad with disdain*
'FUCK IT APPEAL AGAIN!!'

The law is about denial of "a goalscoring opportunity" mate. Regardless of how sideways he pushed the fucking thing, It was at the very worst an "opportunity".

Red card, all day and all night.

It's a stupid rule though, when applied to keepers, there almost always the last man, a yellow & peno would be more apt.

"Peter Gulacsi's loan to Hull City has now been terminated and he is eligible to play in our FA Cup semi-final clash against Everton on Saturday," read a statement released on the club's official website.
