It's bizarre. I had a dream I was having a beer with Ronnie Whelan last week. I was excessively fawning.

Beardsley at 6:00 is amazing. Why does it seem like they are running at so much higher speeds than today's players?

I'd love another Barnes, could use one now too.

And christ, some right dirty bastards in that UTD team.

Barnes, a true genius.
The refereeing in that game was horrendous.

If our current side could pass anywhere near that level, we'd walk the league.
Depressing that it's only gone downhill from that point on, apart from the European Cup in 2005.

I actually did have a beer with Whelan the other week. He was in Vancouver for a supporters bash. Had a bunch of good stories to tell.

Sometimes I forgot how good Barnes really was.
Those tricks are something else and in a big game too.

In todays game they would have been down to 9 and we would have had a cricket score... Christ we were soooo good.

My clearest memories of that game are being right behind Spackman's scuffed shot that hit the post and Nicol's blast that went just over the bar after Rushie had his shot blocked on the goal line. Nothing else stands out. Memory is such a weird thing.
I'd forgotten how shite McClair was, but do recall the utter hatred for Robson.
Anyone else remember when they had wire mesh over the TV up in the corner above the front door of The Park? Robson's face appeared on it before a game once (Saint and Greavie or Football Focus I suppose) and there was a shower of plastic pint glasses aimed at the screen.

Was at that match. I think it was actually the first time we beat Utd at Anfield for a number of years. How it was only 1-0 I will never know ... but no better penalty taker then Molby.

Wow. That match was played at a million miles per hour.

Had forgotten how amazing we once were, and you'd think that footballers today are way more advanced.
