Steve Mandanda offered to Liverpool

50 Cent look-a-like is a fairly decent goalie - and @ 4 million euros in Jan, would be a good short term options for us (he's 30) ....

However, the article says that he'd be the 3rd option behind Timo Horn (Cologne, and discussed on SCM 1-2 weeks ago) and Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

I guess Bogdan didn't impress Klopp too much, and Mign is Mign ...
 
Avances D'Aston Villa..? Could that be french for linked to Villa? The poor guy will be playing in the championship
 
Ter Stegen, yes please. Not greatly interested in the others TBH. I'm not convinced Mandanda would turn out to be much (if any) improvement on what we've already got, and there are questions to be answered about Horn's attitude, plus he's younger than I'd ideally like in a no.1 keeper.
 
Ha. I did say "ideally" but it's a fair cop, Wizzy - got to admit I'd assumed Ter Stegen was older because of the amount of time he's been around at top level. I'd still take him, partly because of that experience and partly because I'm not aware of questions being raised about his attitude.

Edit: just googled Ter Stegen and Horn, and Ter Stegen has two full seasons' start on Horn as a first team regular.

Ter Stegen was only really the 'cup keeper' for Barca last year - and this year, he's playing less I think. That's why we're being linked ... I don't believe for one second Barca would let this kid go - unless there's some 'special' agreement between the clubs post Suarez
 
The big one missing from this list is Ernst Dorfmaier from Frieburg. He's young, but not too young, and a great shot stopper who really commands his box. Rurikbird knows more about him than me and had been championing his case for ages but I've also seen enough to know he'd be a great acquisition.

He's just about as good as Udo Dirkschneider from Magdeburg

When I googled for Ernst Dorfmaier, the first two links from ancestry.com. The third link is gene posting on SCM 🙂
 
Always liked Muslera. Lopez used to be good, not sure now.
Mandanda isnt any better than Ming.
 
They're all shit. We need a new number one, not another reserve keeper. Although we probably need another reserve keeper too, as Bogdan is toilet

That would be embarrassing and unnecessary. Bogdan is not very good, everyone who didn't already know it does now
 
We need to sign a new goalkeeping coach before we sign a new keeper. We could spend £50m on the best keeper on the planet and he would be shit after two years if we keep Achterberg.

Like it was a batshit crazy idea to try Bodgan when Mignolet was playing shit consistently and Bogdan looked alright.

Had the ref rightfully disallowed that goal discussions around him might be very different right now.

Ernst isn't that young. He's 84 I think and spent his whole career as a carpenter. His arthritis will be a big concern but I think he'll pass our medical nonetheless.

Why I know all this?

Ernst Dorfmaier is my gran's neighbour. I'll try to get a photo or even an interview.

Poor old Ernst seems a bit exhausted - maybe his morning routine was too hard.

Interview is cancelled, maybe I can make it tomorrow.

I had three Schnaps with his wife though!
 
Ter Stegen link is popping up again.

The story is we want to pay 12, Barca would be willing to sell for 20.

I know we have other burning issues but this kid is the real deal and he's young. 20 million for a keeper who could man the posts for 10+ years? I say go for it

Would Ter Stegen want to leave Barca for us? I highly doubt it TBH.
