"Liverpool’s wage bill rocketed by 25% as it passed the £200 million mark for the first time. "

"The Reds shelled out £208,258,000 on salaries for players and staff for the 12 months up to May 31 2016 - more than Premier League rivals Manchester City (£198m) and Arsenal (£195m) . "

"That represents a hefty increase on the previous year when Liverpool’s wage bill was £166,085,000. The details are included in the club’s accounts which have now been filed at Companies House. "

Rogers sacking was £16mill. I'm not sure if this figure includes backroom staff

So according to the theory that managers dont matter, only wages, we will finish ahead of City & Arsenal, and are guaranteed Top 4 this season. I can now relax

Like anything in football, it's a general guide not an absolute.

One also has to factor in the actual cost of assembling the squad, because if anyone thinks Man City have been assembled at a lower cost than Liverpool, they're retarded.

An increase of 42 mill £. The sacking of Rodgers and his staff was 16 mill £.
What else is reported that might make it look inflated?

This was reported in November 2016.

We sacked our coaching staff, signed new ones and then sacked them all again, including the manager. That won't have been cheap. The squad was also bloated with expensive shite like Ballotelli and Benteke, too.

Didn't we open up offices in London as well?

The brief ahead of last summer would have been to trim the squad and rebalance the wage bill whilst securing CL football. It's looking like we've pushed that to the extreme with this squad but hopefully we get over the line.

Yeah, we went from 636 to 700 staff according to the report. 139 are players and coaching staff.
