I know a good number are very dismissive of this sort of tour; and regard it as little more than a PR junket or 'tourist trip', but for the many hundreds of thousands who arent asleep when Liverpool play their games ;D ..the details are out :

LFC announce Asia summer tour
Liverpool FC is delighted to announce the Club will be travelling to Asia this summer for a pre-season tour sponsored by Standard Chartered that will include games in China, Malaysia and Korea.

The Reds enjoy fantastic support in Asia and this summer's visit follows the hugely successful 10-day pre-season tour of Thailand and Singapore in 2009.

The team will take on opposition in Guangzhou, play a game in Kuala Lumpur, and then move to Seoul for the final fixture of the three-match tour in July.

"Whenever we go to Asia, the fans are always amazing," said Liverpool FC captain Steven Gerrard. "The supporters over there are fanatical about Liverpool and it's great that we can give so many of them a chance to come and watch the team play."

The Club's Managing Director Ian Ayre said: "The last tour in 2009 was a real success and we're delighted that we are returning this summer after a break last year due to the FIFA World Cup. Nothing beats watching the team live and by visiting China, Malaysia and Korea, we are allowing fans from all three countries to experience just that. We will work closely with our main sponsor Standard Chartered and our other partners in the region to ensure we can deliver our best ever pre-season tour."

Gavin Laws, Group Head of Corporate Affairs at Standard Chartered, said: "We are very excited about Liverpool FC's Asia tour. It is fantastic news for Liverpool FC's fans in Asia and yet another sign of the commitment of the Club and Standard Chartered to the region. We are looking forward to some great football in July."

Details of the matches and ticketing options will be released soon.

We're just trying to please our sponsor.

I suspect we're contractually obliged to tour Asia.

They also toured Asia when Carlsberg was the sponsor, so I'm not sure if it's just about Standard Chartered.

The last tour was Thailand and Singapore.

Themn : whilst many on here probably think that, it isnt.

Q : you better go this time.

Looking forward to seeing N'gog, Poulsen and Aurelio raid the Malaysian national team.

Yeah, the club will always regard this tour as a bit of a joke and send in the second string, the same way most of the fans do.

(These days it's hard to tell first from second though)

Should still fill up the stadium though, especially if Kenny comes.

Yeah, get your ass up boyo.

I flew Tiger Airways down last time.

I'm waiting for the details too but I'm pretty sure I'll be back by then, Mike.

Which means I'm there.

Seriously considering a trip to KL for this one, if i can figure out how to get a ticket.

Will let you know once I hear something,Steve.

One of my mates usually posts some info when he gets it but I have to stay off Facebook for a while.

It'll be full of Mancs after a win.

Good stuff .... I'll try and get a photographer's press pass this time !

Guangzhou - crap & mildly dangerous city (maybe it's been cleaned up after the recent Asian Games) but just a 2 hour flight from here.

Last time Liverpool were due to play in Shanghai they cancelled because of SARS and instead moved the game to .... Hong Kong ... where SARS was rampant !
