Why would I add Enrique when I can already tell from the topics that most people don't want Enrique. Some people will take him if we can't get better, but no one really has him as first choice.

Could say the same about Baines. Who in their right mind mind would want Baines ahead of aomeone like Coentrao or Vargas?
 
there is a lot to like about Baines, he never gets injured, has the best left foot in the premier league, and phenomenal set pieces. I think my list goes Vargas - Baines - Coentrao.

[/quote]Ive seen Coentrao play maybe 5 times and he has been ok. I dont think ive ever seen Vargas play, if i have i dont remember him playing. I know its fashionable to say youve seen every player play dozens of times and you are a great judge of their skillset, and i am POSITIVE that many MANY posters on here do that. Well i dont. I have no idea what they are like.
Ive seen Baines play dozens of times and he is a very VERY good LB and that is what we need.
I remember half of this site wanted Zhirkov......
Im not going to pretend i think Vargas is amazing or whatever because i dont know, so why vote for him.
Same story with about 9/10ths of the players we are linked with. You can all blag it, i'll hold my tongue unless ive seen them play.

You're right cant complain if you've barely seen him but Coentrao is much better.
 
Why are we even talking about Baines?

Surely we've got about as much chance of signing Evra as we do Baines. There is no way Everton will sell to us.

Not sure, just assume they would. They sold us Barmby when they werent even in financial difficutly.

I think it depends on how much Baines wants it.
 
Fabio Coentrao will do nicely if cash is no object. We have no chance of getting Baines and I cant see him angling fr a move across the Mersey.
 
If Baines wants the move it could happen, but it will cost us.
I wanted to sign him when he left Wigan, shame Benitez didnt.

If we cant get Baines, then Cissokho is a great shout and Enrique would be the third option.

Vargas is a left winger and Contreao will cost a fortune.

He was voted SPL Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year and Football Writers' Footballer of the Year...cant be half bad.

Reading one of their forums they seem to think very highly of him. Good defensively. Gets forward and delivers good crosses. But it is Scottish Football which is a massive disclaimer.
 
Baines - but only if we can get him for a decent price and none of this 15-20M I keep hearing.

Otherwise Johnson has done an excellent job there since he came back from injury, our back 4 looking sound, with Fab & Robinson we have good back-up and I'd rather spend big money where it needed more - winger, striker, CB.

The Peruvian has been linked with a Stadio Franchi exit and numerous sides across Europe have been paired.

The Old Lady took a close look at the South American a year ago, but the Viola’s asking price scared them off.

His valuation has dropped slightly though since then, partly due to the club’s struggles over the past 12 months.

It is being suggested that Juve could offer cash and Amauri in return for the 27-year-old wide player.

Striker Amauri, 31, who has a year left on his Turin contract, has spent the last six months on loan at Parma.

Vargas has also been talked about as a possible target for Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City.

LIVERPOOL have stepped up their interest in Lyon left-back Aly Cissokho.

Newcastle’s Jose Enrique was the No.1 target for manager Kenny Dalglish and Reds director of football Damien Comolli.

But they are baulking at the Toon’s £15million valuation of a player who is in the last year of his contract.

Liverpool have now moved Cissokho to the top of their wanted list, with Celtic’s Emilio Izaguirre behind him.

Cissokho, 23, has suitors across Europe, with BAYERN MUNICH – who are also keen on Enrique – and JUVENTUS keeping tabs, too.

I just want to ignore all this transfer talk and wake up for the first day of the season....but its hard to do it.
