What's more important for a manager in the modern game?
True leadership qualities, or the ability to plan and coach the right tactics?
In my opinion, DoF's, Owners, CEO's, etc, do not often provide organisational leadership. Then we have teams that have specialist coaches, and often a head coach as well. So I reckon you build a coaching staff that can formulate and convey tactics, and you have a real leader as a manager.
Or you could have a leader as DoF, and managers can come and go as long as they play a part in the overall vision.
As for Liverpool FC, I think we have a great leader, a bunch of good coaches, and a Director of Football who is just getting in the way.
