Konate

All this shit we are facing is coz of Mo to be honest. He has made such a fucking big deal out of it, I just want him gone by the end of the season if he is not happy just go. FFS he is like gonna be 33, for the type of money he wants he needs to realize he is NOT ALLOWED a drop off in form. I just wish the club would give in and say MO, this is it, we dont care, and tell Trent the same and sign VVD.

1+1=3 ?

I too blame Salah.
It's the only logical solution as to why FSG let Can, Gini, Bobby, Keita, Ox, Milner, Thiago, Matip, origi, Lallana etc leave on frees.

I think a few of em we'd understand, others were just not given the contracts and kinda forced to leave on a free when we thought we might nab a few quid for em.

I’d fine the pricks a weeks wages for each time they answer anything about their contracts other than “no comment”.

Going into a Champion’s League game where a win almost gifts us top place and people are chatting about a fucking contract.

Doesn’t Hughes know he supposed to lock them in a dark room strapped to a chair with thumbscrews applied until they sign!!!

The lazy Scottish cunt’s probably to tight to provide a bic pen for them to sign with and footballers don’t keep pens in their bum bags.

Exactly this, they are all doing it now, and I blame Salah for what he did after that Southampton game. What Konate did was now announce his dissatisfaction and get the likes of PSG and Real Madrid to see if he will delay talks and try and get him on the cheap or free by oferring him sign on fee if he runs down his contract.

It's clearly a club tactic to confuse the opposition. When the players are talking about their contracts they are not talking tactics. We should wheel them out one by one !

Yeah, that entire interview reeked of dissatisfaction.

Obviously pure speculation. But I am starting to think that all of the contracts are held up based on incentive format. When Edwards last ran the show here, we were big on performance related pay & bonuses. When he left we went to normal ones across the board. Now he has come in and my likely tried to get all of Mo, Virgil & Trent onto these. Now others that we are negotiating are possibly the same.

It feels like the players are forming a union and fighting the good fight to remove performance related.

Given the others, I'm not overly bothered by the Konate situation, but if anyone isn't concerned about this club's ability to get things done, they're living in the clouds. It's all a mess and Hughes has a lot of convincing to do.

Not sure what Mo has got to do with this? The blame goes with Hughes, Edwards and ultimately FSG, under their tenure we knew Liverpool would have to self fund transfers but then we find one of the mechanisms for raising funds is to sell players and they suddenly developed an aversion to (selling players).
I agree that players should not be disclosing how contract negotiations progressing beyond saying its "on going" and that could have been done with a NDA.
The club has every right to a draw line on what it can pay each player, but please don't let the player walk for free. Suarez, Torres and Courtinho are players we couldn't keep but we got a premium on their transfers. The latter one helped us get Ali and VVD. If PSG offered £100m for Konate, I would drive him to the air port myself. As brilliant as he is, we need the money and he isn't reliable for the course of a whole season

In espn there is an article with a headline "Konate: I'd die for L'pool", and the article continue to state he had been offered a new contract but he hadn't sign it. I know everyone wants to be paid what they think they are worth but I just find the entire article contradicting.

I'm pretty sure he's been offered a raise but how much is enough to continue to play for a club you are "willing to die for" eh?

Its hyperbole, his agent does the negotiations and they're probably asking for VVD salary. If the club can't pay it, they should sell him in the summer

To be fair, I looked at our Annual salary and compared it with the other top sides in Europe.

We are far behind City, United, Bayern, Real in wages.

And also a fair way behind Chelsea, Arsenal and Barca.

For a team that's done so well in recent years, we are actually underpaying our players (in comparison to rivals).

I can see why our players all want pay rises!

Really?

Whenever someone posts those annual wage bills we're always pretty high, no?

This is interesting. It’s entirely possible the current FSG model is based on outdated wage costs? I mean surely we have to be competitive in wages. Diaz is another one being paid well below his market value

I have sympathy for not paying overinflated market prices. But if you don’t pay the talent we won’t have a top level team in a few years.

And of course, this means if we want to give the younger lads a raise we can’t do it it for Salah. Tough one

as @Beamrider has said many times our wages isn't £114m or £150m its over £370m. We pay huge incentives

Inter Milan 121M.
....

Bankrupt Barca 162M.
Chelsea 171M.
PSG 172M.
Arsenal 172M.
United 190M.
City 201M.
Bayern 224M.
Madrid 230M.

Al Ahli 146M.

How can the incentives be over 100% of their wages. Make it make sense, those figures are clearly wrong (for our club anyway) unless John's paying himself 100m a year as a paid employee.

Incentives for what?

Just look at Leny Yoro:
Weekly
£ 115,000 (Base)£ 30,000 (Bonus)£ 145,000 per week
Annual
£ 5,980,000 (Base)£ 1,560,000 (Bonus)£ 7,540,000 per year

Compare that to Konate:

Weekly
£ 70,000 (Base)£ 0 (Bonus)£ 70,000 per week
Annual
£ 3,640,000 (Base)£ 0 (Bonus)£ 3,640,000 per year

Must we win the quadruple for Ibrahima to earn the same amount as United's 4th choice CB?

A bigger concern is we have 12 players whose contracts will end either in 26 or 27, we are creating a rod for our back. So as it stands how many of those you renew this year and how many do you sell at the most opportunist time?
