Going to Trabzonspor?

Trabzonspor are on the verge of signing Liverpool defender Kolo Toure according to Lig Tv.

Burak Gürdal, CEO of Trabzonspor has been in England in talks with Liverpool over Toure.

Trabzonspor manager Vahid Halilhodzic wants to complete his summer signings before the league and Europa League campaigns kick-off.

The Ivory Coast defender joined Liverpool on a free transfer last season and made 20 league appearances.

However, Toure played in just one of Liverpool's final 11 games of the season and is expected to fall further down the pecking order following the expected signing of Dejan Lovren from Southampton.

Liverpool have already spent £60m this summer and manager Brendan Rodgers could be tempted to part ways with Toure in order to reduce the Reds wage bill.

The Ivory Coast international has a wealth of Premier League experience behind him.

Toure has made 327 appearances in the Premier League, and has won the league title twice with Arsenal in 2004 and Manchester City in 2004.

The 33-year-old would be joining Ivory Coast international teammates Didier Zokora and Sol Bamba if Trabzonspor were to complete the transfer.

He's on £75k a week or something silly, and with Lovren in, and Coates still here is there any point in keeping him?

He's a good lad, but he's a bit shit. Get rid. Or give one of us lot 75k a week to fall over and entertain the crowd.

Probably responsible for as Many individual errors as anyone last season

Seems like a good lad though

If we're getting rid of him, we need to find an adequate replacement.

Unfortunately the only person in footbal I can find with remotely similar attrubtes is this guy, and even then its a poor imitation

To me it would make more sense to sell Agger and leave Toure here for one more season to hold the place for Ilori. Agger won't be happy being 4th choice. Unless Rodgers is planning to buy ANOTHER CB in addition to Lovren (or wants to keep Coates all of sudden), I don't see how selling Toure makes sense.

Fulham (didn't even cost us any points) and West Brom. That's it for me. Mignolet had far more. I think he mostly had a good season. Still no point keeping him around especially if Lovren joins.

I want to see Ilori here now, he doesn't need another season away, he's proved he's damn good. He needs bedding into the squad this season.

Sakho, Lovren, Skrtel & Ilori .. I'd be very happy with that.

I wondered about this when I saw Coates figuring quite prominently in those pics of the squad training in Boston.

I think I'd rather see him going on loan to a premiership team. He'd develop more by playing regularly.

Yeah, we need to look forward now and give Ilori a chance, he did well for a spell and helped us get where we were, but ultimately over the course of the season he was found out.

The number is 2. I can almost guarantee that all of our players made at least as many, and they just weren't punished as harshly. Skrtel probably could've scored another half dozen OG's with his hyper aggressive play and conceded a handful of penalties, but he got away with it.

Kolo is the ultimate 4th choice CB, and one of the biggest personalities left in the side since we sold Suarez. I think Skrtel is due for some regression this year, because you can't expect him to replicate that goal tally every season.

If we find out that we really don't need Kolo, then we can sell him in January. But at the moment, it's just not necessary, and there's no real benefit either.

Kolo has a year left on his 2-year contract, so by January, he'll be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with the next club and go on a free. I have a feeling we won't actually sell him even if Rodgers deems that he's surplus to requirements; I think most likely we'll release him or just let him stay and see out the final year.

I wouldn't expect us to get a fee for him if we sold him here, or later on. And it'll only be a nominal savings in wages.

some folks with short memories here. Kolo came in for free, had been an uber professional and early on in the season came in at short notice and played a few blinders to help us start well. For our usual 'free' nightmare signings he turned out ok. Wish him all the best.
