Pretty much everyone we've been linked with seriously that I am aware of appears to either be German or from the Bundesliga, is it going to be a whole summer of links and rumours without anything concrete or are we building a team that can win the league as well as the 2018 world cup?

The one positive I'm hoping to see is not rinsing all of our money on premiership proven players, but I'm not sure even klopp can resist Liverpool doing the same Liverpool signings we always do
 
Managers will always recruit players and staff from previous clubs, countries and leagues they know well, especially when they are new to post. This is no different.

But as far as "rinsing our money" goes, Liverpool have wasted money on players from lots of different leagues and countries over the past 20 years, domestic and abroad.

Rafa bought spanish in his first year, and it served him well.

Houllier bought "World Cup Winner" Bernard Diomede and other french speakers in his first year...

It's as predictable as a Scando being excited about us signing a Scando...

It's clearly a ridiculous and unsubstantiated team, having almost no width and several players with precisely zero Premiership experience, not to mention Kante in it, who we have little chance of signing.... but apart from missing Sturridge - our best striker by a mile - and having very little goals in it, I'm not sure it is "mid-table at best"

That seems a little harsh, given we came 8th last season and 6th the season before that, and that team is no worse than those two. Sturridge notwithstanding.
 
I was being somewhat more realistic..

To be fair.. We are a midtable side..

No getting away from that.... (sadly)

The owners need to spend and spend on quality.. but somehow, I think they will want to go youth and development..

Probably one of the reason why they are so attracted to Klopp, as he has a proven track record...
 
Bullshit,

We are 3 top players away from challenging for the league.

If we sign another top centre forward, a CM and a winger I think we can defo push for the title next season.

We need 2 attacking midfielders, a playmaker, defensive midfielder, left back and centre back to have a realistic chance of top 4.

We say that every year.. Like I said unless we spend on quality, it will be the same old story, this time next year

We need leaders and winners in amongst those signings too.. I think we have one in Matip though.. so thats a good start..

Yep the lack of leaders in our team is a joke. We have no one to pull us through when the going gets tough.

Do we really care about premiership experience?

I feel like that one has been debunked plenty of times.

Why do we need all of those? We already have attacking midfielders in abundance. We have just bought a centre back and have several others. We have defensive midfielders

Agreed we need a playmaking midfielder, another top striker, ok yes forgot about the left back (but if you ask me not critical to challenge). And a Winger definitely.

I think you are underselling us, yes wasnt the best season in terms of position finished but there are definitely signs of a team which can be improved and has the potential to challenge. To say we arent even good enough to challenge top 4 is wrong. I think you are underselling us, seeing as Klopp is looking to make us more efficient at the back etc. Our attacking play is not the issue here, the defence if sorted will mean we stop losing silly games and turning draws into wins. I dont see why we cant challenge if we buy 3 top players.

Our attacking midfielders are too similar, too slow and the best one may well leave. We need better than Lallana and Firmino.

We don't have any defensive midfielders.

I think a new LB is pretty critical, if only to give Moreno genuine competition, which is why we are certainly going to buy one.

As for challenging, we need to sort out the defence AND the attack. We were outscored by every team in the Top 4, and also West Ham.

As for Top 4, we have very little chance of finishing above United, Spurs, Arsenal, City and Chelsea, and that's ignoring the threat of Southampton (who finished above us again), West Ham, Leicester and Everton.

If we only need 3 players, then we need 3 fucking amazingly good players to have any sortof chance

Yes, I said top players.

LB, hopefully Flanagan will come back and Joe Gomez looked good prior to the injury. Id even actually keep Moreno as a LW tbh, he seems better suited to that than LB (he reminds me a lot of a young Riise)

Swap Benteke for a Top striker (Higuain hopefully) and without any departures we look strong there if you ask me.

Lovren, Sakho and Matip hopefully will come good, lets hope we add another.

Midfield is really where I think we need to strengthen most now. Can looks like he is improving, but we need 1 or 2 quality additions in here.

I guess its all about perception, yours is glass half empty, mine is half full.

There is quality in our side, if there wasnt we wouldnt have got to 2 cup finals and beaten every top team on our day.

If there was enough quality we would have won at least one of them, and finished higher than 8th in the league.

We don't have very many top quality players, sadly.
 
LB and DM I think are the only two signings actually necessary. A true DM with a bit of experience would be nice.

I think for the rest, it's always good to have depth in central defense, and you can never have too many attacking options. Means we can go after talent more than specific positions or roles.
 
LB, DM, wide attacker with pace... someone who can take free kicks..... someone who can take corners... someone who can score consistently from midfield..... Prob another CB....

So basically about 5 players.

Good ones please.

.... and we hope Sturridge doesn't fall apart again.... Or we'll need another striker...
