And its probably not even his fault... Getting to two finals with someone else's Team.. It probably signaled to the board that Klopp was the indeed the man to bring the club back amongst the elite without the need to spend a great deal. Klopp probably believed that ethos too..

Its the only reason I can see as to why we failed to sign the players we needed this summer.. The board simply hold all the cards.

Not prioritising the defence this summer

Not being pragmatic enough to change the system when it's not not working.

Give over, you make it sound like he's been operating on a pittance. Didn't we just spend £40m on AOC and another £50m-£60m on a player we won't see until next year?

We could talk about the cheap-skate signings (notably the GK/CB), the various inconsequential substitutions he's made and the players he's trusted that have let us down. But his biggest current mistake is that he is expecting patience from the fans. Patience that he just won't get unfortunately.

It's only part of it though. The fans aren't stupid (most of them aren't anyway), they recognise a willingness to adapt and to try to compensate for areas where we are thin etc. We could have bought defenders in the Summer but we didn't, if we hadn't bought AOC we could maybe assume that the money wasn't there for a defender, but we did and now we're short in defense with one of the main two centre backs playing through painkillers because we have no one else who is adequate. The team isn't set up to protect an already weak defense and Klopp won't adapt his team to protect it, in any shape or form. That's the reason he's not getting any patience.

I'd agree if we were playing poorly and losing, but we're not. We are largely dominating games and missing easy, guilt edged chances. A lot of fans seem to be ignoring that fact. Even with odd slip up at the back, we should have won most of our games this year. I'm guessing Klopp understands our defence isn't great (and buying a tie over, instead of waiting on VVD isn't going to help), so he's gambled on the patience of the fans to put up with more shite defending hoping our attack would be enough, as it was last year (with AOC adding to that).

I think he's decided the best form of defence this year (with no CB he fancied) is to attack. The more we are attacking, the less we are defending. But we are simply not converting enough chances. Salah and Firmino are not clinical enough. If we had bought a Harry Kane, no one would be questioning why we are conceding 1 goal to Newcastle or 1 to Spartak. Largely speaking, we actually defended well in those games (by owning most of the ball).

I don't think we are ever going to be Chelsea or Atletico Madrid at the back (even with a VVD), so we are effectively following the Barca/City model of football for defending (with the ball).. that's what we actually need to get better at; managing the game. Except we don't have the tactical intelligence, technical skill or genius of an Iniesta/Xavi/KDB/Silva in our team (Coutinho SHOULD be that player, but he's not) and it's costing us.

Not doing a proper appraisal of our squad from the start. He intentionally brushed aside their performances under his predecessor, talked shit about how they were all good players and that he couldn't understand the criticisms being levelled at them.

So now a couple of years later, finally the penny seems to have dropped. Unfortunately he's wasted all those transfer windows in which he did nothing, and left himself in a position where he had to squeeze several window's worth of work into a single summer, which happened to be the summer when prices went through the roof. Piss poor foresight on his part.

All managers make mistakes. There's always going to be some decisions they make, be it transfers or team selections, favoured players or the opposite, that make the fans react with anger and/or bemusement.

Sometimes the unpopular decisions seem vindicated over time, sometimes not. But the idea that Klopp - or anyone - is infallible, and the opinion of the great unwashed fans counts for nothing, is risible.

But mistakes are much easier to forgive - or in many cases, make absurd ridiculous excuses for - when you're winning. So for a while last season, every post daring to articulate an issue, or criticism, was swamped by a deluge of witless, blinkered smuggery - how DARE you have a contentious viewpoint about the Great German God Klopp?

We don't need a new keeper! Why would we buy a striker when we have Firmino! It's fine that he didn't buy Van Dyk, in fact it's great that he won't settle for second best! (no mention of Oxlade-Chamberlain or Robertson) It doesn't matter how many we concede, we are top scorers! We don't need new owners, FSG are ace!

That's all quietened down somewhat.

And now, his list of obvious failings:

1) Not buying a good new goalkeeper
2) Not signing at least two new CBs
3) Stubborn refusal to change shape, formation or tactics or to address the laughable defensive shithousery
4) N0 DM
5) No quality striker
6) Laughable over-reliance on too many mediocre players and overrated youngsters
7) A couple of dreadful summers of recruitment

which a few have been raising as issues for two years, are now widely accepted, as resignation and realisation sets in at last. And I think that has actually caused a lack of traffic and activity on the site, as some of those drum-bashing eye-rolling Klopp Acolytes have slunk away, embittered and embarrassed.

But while his list of failings is long and obvious, that should not diminish his many qualities and positive aspects. There's been some great signings, too. We qualified for the CL and played some wonderful football at times last season. He has huge charisma and has a CV that shows he can win trophies.

But he must learn and adapt. He must be more humble, and he must fix that fucking defence and sign a DM, 2x CB, 20 goal striker and goalkeeper.

Nobody at all would argue with that now, and Klopp can't either, otherwise he won't last beyond next season as manager.

As for what he can do now, what he can "fix", well I think the recent posts about our pressing game and miles run is most interesting. I read some reports saying we'd dropped from 1st or 2nd in those kind of stats to about 9th.

But I've yet to see anything convincing to explain it. Is it linked to player conditioning and ability to play at 100mph every week? (see the post about that medical reshuffle/ sacking this week). Or is it Klopp trying to reconfigure our playing style, and only pressing at certain times in certain areas? Because I'm not sure we have the layers who are good enough to perform at a less blistering pace.

That's a really interesting debate, because Klopp's failures - big and small - aren't really that debatable anymore; they're common knowledge.

His biggest mistake, is the same mistake every manager makes and that is managing their own ego.

That's where pragmatism needs to come into play.

You need to be able to overwhelm your opponents and be ruthless so there is no chance for them to exploit any defensive weaknesses.

It doesn't work when the opposition knows they can sit back and get a draw or even a win if they play their cards right.

We're not good enough and arguably won't ever be to play that style of football.

I think Klopp's biggest mistake was joining Liverpool FC in the first place and saddling himself with the task of satisfying hordes of ingrates with a disproportionate sense of entitlement.

I'm not privy to the measurement scale you're using, but could you give me an idea of what the correct, proportionate amount of entitlement is?

Thanks in advance!
