Juan Mata fears for his World Cup chances after being sidelined at Chelsea – as Juventus and Atletico Madrid prepare January loan moves for the Spanish star, writes Tom Hopkinson of the Sunday People .
Now the playmaker wants to speak to both manager Jose Mourinho and technical director Michael Emenalo to find out if he features in their long-term plans.
Mata wants to stay at Chelsea at least until the end of the season but is growing increasingly concerned that a lack of action at Stamford Bridge could cost him his place in Spain’s squad for next summer’s finals in Brazil.
So much so that it could even pave the way for his exit when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.
Mata was the Blues’ player of the year for two seasons running prior to Mourinho’s return in the summer , but since then the midfielder has been in and out of the starting XI.
Mourinho has questioned the 25-year-old’s defensive work-rate and Sunday People Sport understands he remains unconvinced by the Spaniard, who was on the bench yesterday against West Ham.
Instead the Portuguese has preferred to use Oscar as his No.10, sparking interest in Mata from Spain and Italy.

I cant see it happening, they have been embarrassed on a weekly basis by letting Lukaku go out on loan and outscore all their strikers, they wont make the same mistake with Mata

I wonder if this and the Lukaku decision will have any effect on Mourinho's reputation.

If I was Lukaku, I'd be asking for a permanent move away from Chelsea at the end of the season. He proved all he needed to at West Brom last season and they opted to go sign Eto'o who is still a good player but not the future of Chelsea.

As for Mata, I just don't see us getting him off them. Would be nice though.
