Jovanovic regrets Reds move
Serbian feels like a stranger at Anfield

Jovanovic: Out-of-favour at Liverpool

Out-of-favour Liverpool midfielder Milan Jovanovic admits he regrets moving to England last summer.

Jovanovic joined Liverpool on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at Belgian side Stanard Liege.

The Serbian international has found it difficult to make an impact at Anfield and has hardly figured since Kenny Dalglish took over from Roy Hodgson in January.

The 29-year-old, who has been strongly linked with a move away from Liverpool in the summer, admits he is unhappy with his current situation.

Asked if he ever regretted his move to England, Jovanovic told Sportske."If I'm completly honest, I must say that I regulary think about this. If I would move to Italy or Germany I would be happier than in England - my life would be nicer.

"And also for my career it would be better to play in Serie A or the Bundesliga.

"In Belgium I was living in an area where there were so many people from Serbia and my life was different, more dynamic.
Lonely stranger

"Liverpool is such a different place. I'm here alone, without anybody. I'm just a very lonely stranger.

"In my months here I haven't met anybody from my country. If I wouldn't have my wife and my kids I just couldn't speak Serbian with anybody.

"But Liverpool is of course a club which you can't refuse."

Jovanovic was signed by ex-Reds boss Rafa Benitez, but the Spaniard left Liverpool before the attacker's arrival on Merseyside.

"There were 15 other clubs which followed me but I chose Liverpool and make a mistake."

The Serbian admits Benitez's departure has affected his own situation feeling he would be playing more if the Spaniard was still in charge of Liverpool.

"My only regret is, that the coach, who brought me at Anfield, left the club even before my arrival," he said.

"If Rafa Benitez would have stayed in Liverpool I believe everything would be different for me.

"There were 15 other clubs which followed me but I chose Liverpool and make a mistake."

I actually don't think he deserves that,Modo.

He's painfully average, but he's tried his best in a new league in a new country and he's complained very little.

It's not his fault he's here.

Well actually it is, as he said he chose to come here. But yeah, I don't really have a problem with him, but I won't be sad to see him go.

True, was a bit harsh, he never moaned or complained, but at the same time he never really performed for us despite all the chances he got.
Hope he gets his career back on track.

It's odd, he had a few good games initially, a bit like Riera, but has shown very little since.

I'm far more fucked off by cole.

Excuse me, he hasn't once gotten a chance at playing striker, even though his competition earlier in the year was David N'gog. Not that I feel bad for him or anything, nor do I think we are missing out but he hasn't gotten one proper chance and that's the truth.

Tis true.

did i imagine him turning down a move to somewhere else in the transfer window? he did didn't he. i remember calling him a cunt at the time. and now to come out with this, well fuck him. im glad he's lonely. the fucking cunt

yeah that was it. there were stories that a 6million bid was made. fair enough that could be made up. but then there were reports that he turned the move down. you have to have some fucking balls to make up both stories out of thin air.

Hang on, has Jova shat in Kenny's cornflakes ?

Some of you are acting really fucking cunty, when there's no need.

Ok, it hasn't worked out for him here, fair enough, but , he's been an honest pro and deserves a little respect.

he wasn't being an honest pro when he ran his contract down at standard. he was looking for a big pay day. he wasn't being an honest pro when his lonely unhappy lifestyle did not mean as much to him as having to take a paycut at wolfsburg

Exactly themn, it's bizarre, if not unexpected.

So it hasn't worked out for him. He's not been disrespectful from what I can gather, and he'll be gone in the summer.

That's it really.

I was at the Arsenal game on the first day of the season and he got a standing ovation when he came off. I thought he would do well for us. Strong, pacy and committed. It's odd he has featured so little.

Also wasn't he one of the top scorers in Belgium? We never gave him a run out up front either.

He will move on in the summer and we will free up the wage bill.

+1

He hasn't been afforded a run in the team, but I'm not that really arsed.

He's got every right to regret the move and doesn't deserve abuse saying so.

Yeah, I agree with that.

Don't know why he's been called a cunt. He's not very good but he's done nothing to deserve such pathetic abuse.

I disagree, if you made up the first one then you must make up that second to save face.

I doubt it, Gerry. He seems a genuine lad and I think he'd put the effort in. The quality might not be there, but how can we know for sure either way when he's hardly ever been played in his best position?
