Jordon Ibe has drafted in none other than the legendary Kenny Dalglish to help him take his game to the next level.
The Liverpool FC generations crossed at the club’s Kirkby Academy after the 19-year-old – who should currently be on holiday – asked the club’s Academy director Alex Inglethorpe to help arrange some extra sessions to work on his finishing.
One chance conversation between Dalglish and Inglethorpe later led to the extra training session as Dalglish got straight off a plane today to help out the promising young winger.

Inglethorpe told the ECHO: “Kenny Dalglish came in this morning and worked with Jordon Ibe and myself on a little bit of finishing. Kenny literally just got a plane and came straight here.
“This is driven by Jordon. He’s the one who wanted to come in and do a bit more. He’s the one who wanted to work on a few things.
“It’s incredible really. By chance I was just speaking to Kenny about something else. He landed at the airport at 10am and he was in here at 10.30am with his kit on and the boots on.
“He was working with Jordon, passing some fantastic pieces of advice as you’d expect. There were four or five of the U16s as well. What a day for an U16 – working with Kenny Dalglish, Jordon Ibe, on a beautiful sunny day, doing some good work.”

It was a breakthrough year for Ibe in the Liverpool first team after being recalled from a productive spell on loan at Derby. His 14 appearances would have been many more except for a knee injury against Besiktas which broke his momentum.
But Inglethorpe said the player himself – who recently signed a new long-term deal at Anfield – knows there is still lots of improvement to find.
“He’s looking to add to his game for sure, it’s very much driven by him, he’s turned up the last three or four days and I’d anticipate we’ll work again. He’s actually on his holidays but he wants to improve and get a bit better.
“He’s a really good lad and I think he recognises this is the beginning of his journey and he’s far from being complete. He’s still got a lot to do and a lot to work on, and it’s nice to know he sees that himself.
“It’s great to have a player who drives his own development.”
Ibe later shared a pic of himself with Dalglish in the Kirkby sunshine and told his followers: "Good session, improving during the off season with Alex Inglethorpe and the legend himself Kenny Dalglish."

Yep, he doesn't even have an agent.

I don't think he's a world-beater like, but he's now easily my favourite footballer.

What about Little Joe? He keeps things ticking over in the middle of the field.

I think he's got as much potential as Sterling if not more. He's going to be a huge player for this club.

On the ball he's as talented as Sterling for sure, but his movement, game awareness, and ability to find space and receive the ball are a long way off Sterling.

Sterling has those qualities and nobody can doubt that, but as simplistic as this sounds he needs to rack up alot more by way of assists and goals to justify the hype.

He has a long, long way to go.

No arguments there, but Ibes physically stronger and has a much better shot on him. He really can strike it well and that is not something Sterling is going to quickly develop. I'm speaking from
a rugby background but I know enough to know that striking something properly is very much inherent and is struggled to be taught. In my mind Ibe has that and Sterling doesnt and I think it counts for a lot.

There are probably 500 more important things for a footballer than 'how hard you strike a ball'.

Sterling has pillow feat when striking a ball. He reminds me of McManaman in that regard. Ibe strikes it clean with minimal backlift like Robbie.

I've never seen a great player or goal scorer that didn't have the ability to strike the ball though.
Sterling really is the most talented player with the shittest strike on him that I've seen.

It's hard not to like Ibe, and he's an excellent prospect too. Sterling on the other hand

Nope, but I reckon he's got more potential of reaching it. As pacey as raheem and probably his final ball is better. Refreshing to see a player with no agent and dealing with things himself and family. Should get more game time this season.

Having a really flash car.
Looking mean in a kit ad.
Having a Twitter account.
Having a pair of colourful headphones.
Using books as decoration in a publicity photo at home.
Having a nickname with 'y' at the end.

Fun fact, in the pic on top of the Cunard building (?) it's my mate crouched hidden behind the Liverpool shirt pulling it straight

The Liver bird caught my eye in that shot and for a moment I thought it looked like a dragon perched, I scanned the rest of the photo for Daenerys Targaryen. No luck.

I think Ibe is great. His pace, power and technical ability are excellent attributes but I hope he doesn't hog the ball next season. I'm worried he will try too much with the ball. We saw this in pre season last year. Steve McClaren stated it was something they were also working on at Derby. He's a wonderful talent.

Yep, he is no where near Sterling yet in relation to in game intelligence. Ibe is still raw and can beat defenders for fun which is a joy to watch. I think he's great but I just wouldn't be quick to bin off Sterling thinking we have a ready made clone in Ibe waiting to step up. Both will play a lot of games for us next season. 😉

Yes, although I don't want him to be 'over-polished,' or rather over-taught, to fit into the team. I think we could do with an attacking player who, when the situation encourages it, will run with the ball, try to go past players and do something unusual, rather than just has a succession of quick touches. Sterling looked like that in the latter part of the season - too happy just to pass it rather than use his pace and skill.

I suppose the '500 things' more important to a top player than his strike are those things which made Joe Allen and Adam Lallana such inspired signings 🙄

This may be from the 'I don't know much about art but I know what I like' end of the football analysis spectrum, but I can't shake the feeling that an attacker being unable to shoot properly is more than just a minor drawback.

I didn't say it was a weakness, just that there are plenty of things far more important.

I don't mind you being patronising Peter, just try not to come across as clueless while you're at it.

I'm happy to admit to being clueless, it doesn't bother me. Seems to help me see the reality of the emperor's new clothes once in a while, FWIW.

Finally there's a nickname.

Joe 'The Emporer' Allen

Or would it be better for Lallana?

I always quite liked the Bournemouth Benayoun for Lallana. Not sure people would get the reference to Bournemouth though.
