I'm struggling to see any way out for Mignolet, he's confidence shot and he's never really bounced back with any character like any top keeper would. Jones isn't good enough but he's also not as bad as many of his detractors would make out, he's a fairly no nonsense goalie who at least is brave when coming for crosses and has a bit more strength in character. Should we give him a go?
 
The best news of the weekend.....actually, the only good news of the weekend for me was to hear that we finally entered the race for Petr Cech. He'd be a superb acquisition IMO - almost as important as a prolific goal scorer in January.

Until then I'd like to see Jones play in the next couple of games. He's the only option.

Would Chelsea sell us Cech now that we aren't a rival to them? Would Cech come to us?
 
I'm amazed that reserve keepers are ever awake. It must be the most boring job in football. Jones is 32 and by my reckoning he's played 107 senior league games in 13 years. What a career.

I wanted to give him more time as he deserved it but I also wanted us to bring in some healthy competition.
I wanted us to sign Lopez who went to Milan for free. Jones offers nothing.
As said during the summer he has loads of areas he needs to work on.

Its now been 17 more games to prove himself and all it has showed is that he cant improve on the areas that were highlighted. In fact some of them have gotten a bit worse. Add in the fact that a top class keeper is available for a very decent fee its a no brainer imho.

At least for me. If no keeper of Cechs class was available I would probably wait until the summer.
 
I was expecting a thread about Dave Jones as a replacement for Rodgers.

Liverpool born, experience at Southampton. Bring him home.
 
I can't see them selling to us for a mere £7 mill.(if at all). That said, we should definitely give it a whirl. If Cech fancies the move he could help it along.
