Glen Johnson has said that there have been no talks with Liverpool about a new contract as he is bracing himself for the probability of leaving Anfield.

Johnson could depart on a free transfer in the summer and has been approached by foreign clubs, but not by the Liverpool hierarchy.

The 30-year-old right-back, who is one of the best-paid players at Anfield, admits his future is up in the air as the club have delayed discussing a new deal.

"[There have been] no talks," he said. "At this point I have no idea [where I will be next season]. I haven't thought about it."

Bet he (and his agent) feel a little stupid not signing the contract we offered to him earlier.

Hardball. Hopefully we sign him on a rolling 1yr performance based deal, on about 20k a week. He's not going to get a deal anywhere near his current one home or abroad.
He'd be a good player to have as a backup on low wages.

Nor is any club going to offer him anywhere near as low as 20k per week.

He isnt good enough to warrant the wages he's been on.
If he signed a contract at around 40-50k then maybe we should keep him for another year.
We're losing a lot of experience this summer.

How much is he on? 90-100 a week?

I like him but he'd need to accept a fraction of what he's currently on to stay.

We have better and he simply is not nor has he ever been worth the 100k plus a week he is on... Overall a poor signing.

Hes been a good player for us over the years. Very unlucky to have signed and been here through a pretty awful era. Ive always liked him and on his day he was great.

On his day he was a game changer and the best right back in the league, then there were the days where he looked like he was using someone elses feet.

I enjoyed his time at the club

Mors, your imaginary wage scale is through the roof. Earlier you were advocating putting Henderson and Sterling £80k per week with bonuses that could amount to £200k per week. I'm far from Johnson's biggest fan, and while I agree Henderson and Sterling are worth about 10x Glen Johnson's each, it's just not kosher in reality. He'd go elsewhere for a payday first.

And he's talking shite anyway, "there have been no talks", apart from the ones where we offered him a deal he didn't like.

What a superb player he as for 2 years.

Shame injuries stopped him staying at that level.

We have bettter now though so time for him to move on.

It's likely to be in both the club and the players interest for him to move on, which is a shame, because I'm happy enough for him to stay. But if Johnson departing frees up £120,000 a week which can be use to tempt Sterling and Henderson to sign then Johnson leaving is a no-brainer.
