John Terry - Case Adjourned

Whats that? The sound of dirt being pushed under a rug?

double standards. What a shame.

I doubt the FA will charge him until the police charge is dealt with and then they'll probably take the view that if he's acquitted that is proof enough for them not to charge him. If he's convicted though I guess they would have to?

Well well well.
And it makes me wonder...

Now let's see what will this decision do to the reputation of the English game...

It doesn't really matter, Sunny.
For us, foreigners, it's "England".
On one hand you have the case of Luis Suarez, a foreign player, who was harshly punished in a case with so many doubts.
On the other hand you have John Terry, a local Englishman and captain of the England team, who is seen on video racially abusing a fellow footballer, and having his case dragged due to *technicalities".
This is how the case is perceived. And it rather stinks.

What a surprise. May i suggest if this was a Foreigner who had done this, his career in England would have been effectively over long before the courts reached a verdict?

There is no reason for the F.A to wait for that, is there?

Annoying thing is, an England squad without the poison that is Terry may have had a chance to at least behave and play like a team without him. Now, it will be the same old rubbish.

Is it not that the incident was reported to the Police and not to the FA? Hence taking them out of the disciplinary equation so to speak...

Of course all the lawyers will need to contend is that his abusive tirade was part of a wider announcement unseen and he gets off due to lack of evidence and thats it.... job done...

It doe's stink to high heaven, and the timing being so convenient for everybody....

Judge said trial would normally be held earlier but footballing calendar & ChelseaFC/witness commitments taken into account

So there you have it. In some circles, football is more important than racism.

The F.A can and have charged players for unsportsman like conduct on their own.

So "it was first reported to the police" is a bit weak if that's the excuse the F.A have given for not taking any action on this.

I'd imagine the FA wouldn't be allowed to do anything until the court case concludes as any judgement they make would be seen to influence that court case.

I think so too.

Does that normally happen? That Woodgate/Bowyer trial was during the season wasn't it? I can't think of many others off hand

No idea mate. It seems quite unusual to me.

For sure, he is slower than Carra and thats no joke, when he plays the defence can't step up, he has been caught out so many times this season, the worst being when the ball got pushed past him and he just dived to the floor knowing he had no chance of chasing it, and hoping it looked like he had slipped

Did he get the captaincy back or did I imagine that?
[/quote]

Yeah he did, when Ferdinand was in and out of the side due to injuries.

Terry's always been like this for quite a lot of the time, just not so clearly or so often in previous years when he was a bit younger. He's never had any pace to speak of, and was majorly lucky to play alongside Carvalho and behind Makelele in his best days at Chavski. For England, where he hasn't had the same quality of protection around him, he's *always* struggled. A good player in his prime, but still one of the most overrated I've seen for years.
