Whats the story with his contract?

I know the chances are slim but I would love him at Liverpool.

He'd be our new Harry Kewell.

He'd actually be the new Degen.

Hardly, he's a class act.

x2 - he had a bad season last year, but before that had a good playing record.

He had a knee op didnt he and even played on while injured for a few games.

I think he's a great talent, and has the ability we sometimes lack to create a chance in the final 3rd.

He's not going to be sold though, so this is just another boring 'what if' thread.

No offence DB

If we're in the market for injury-prone left-wingers Robben's the man to take the punt on.

Joe Cole's a good footballer and always speaks about Liverpool with great respect.

If he's going cheapish he'd be a better option than Riera, but I highly Chelsea wouldn't sell him to us in any circumstances. However if they do sign Zhirkoff(sp?) it's going to be hard for Cole to get back in the first team; especially with the upturn in form of Malouda who's been brilliant since Christmas, so they may have to flog him to someone...

I suspect he'll want to stay and try though, because he seems very attached to the club.

we should definitely try and unsettle him, only a year left on his contract and still no sign of an extension and looks like they're chasing players in his position

would cost £10m or less

I'd take a risk on Joe Cole any day of the week. I think the Harry Kewell warning has some merit given his injury record of late, but if he regains fitness he's a perfect match for our needs.

WE NEED JOE COLE.

spectacular goals -- gerrard (checked)
dribbling and scoring -- torres (checked)
important goals -- kuyt (checked)
unexpected goals -- benny moon (checked)
shots that bounce off defenders' arse and into the net leaving opposition fans cursing and swearing-- none.
