Yeah, I'm guessing maybe with getting Maxi and Kuyt off the wage bill, and bringing in the relatively lesser paid Borini, then it might make some room for this. And as you say, no one else will match those wages, so..

TBH I'd written the guy off before he went to Lille, but in fairness he knuckled down to his job pretty well over there. If Rodgers' style suits him equally well, it's worth a go.

my issue with Joe Cole is that all i saw him do was wait for the ball and then lay it off. his positional sense was poor and failed to influence a game in any form. how the guy thinks he can play in the middle is beyond me. not arsed either way whether he stays or goes.

His best performances for the Chavs were in the middle. He's no winger.

That said, Rodgers likes his wide players up front to come inside rather than get chalk on their boots. Cole might suit one of those positions.
