3 million bid from Bolton accepted as per Goal.com

I thought he'd have a good career here as a back up, but I guess we need the money and tbh, he's struggled over the last few months of last season and hasn't inspired much confidence this season.

Good luck Jay ... Hope to see you next year in the Premier League.

Seems a good bit of business for all involved. It's obvious that he's gone further down the pecking order already under Rodgers and will gain much more from playing week in week out with Bolton.

Good luck Jay.

Good luck Spearo! I think he'll be great at Bolton. Thought he'd be decent back up for us, but in truth, I'm happy to se him get a chance elsewhere.

He's a nice lad and of course a genuine fan, so it's sad he didn't make it here but I'm sure he'll thrive at Bolton.

It's always sad to see a local lad who's establish himself, move on to another club. Top professional and a really nice, genuine hardworker, not a bad player too. I though he was better than the Championship tbh, I don't see him staying there too long.

Good luck Jay.

YNWA.

I think a step down will be good for him. He might get to play more of his natural game as he was always good for a goal or two from midfield at reserve level.

I'd like him to have been able to do well here but Bolton does sound about right. Hope he gets them promoted.

He always have his best, so I've nothing but good wishes for the lad.

On a personal note I'm a tad disappointed at the fee in all truth, esp if qpr were interested.

So we accept a 3 m bid when about 5 clubs are interested? We're not very good at this shit, are we?

Perhaps rather than trying to generate a biding war we are being respectful of a player who has always given one hundred percent and been a model pro and letting him choose what he believes to be the right career move.

Bloody goody-two-shoes.

Always gave 100%, but never was going to get to the right level, I think Bolton is right for him, not least of all geographically.
Don't forget its no use having five clubs interested if the player has a preference. Added to which most of the interest seemed to be loan. I think 3-4 m is on the money

Wanderers are still waiting on a deal to sign Liverpool midfielder Jay Spearing.

It is hoped a deal to bring the 23-year-old to the Reebok will be tied up before transfer deadline day on Friday to enable him to be part of the squad travelling to Hull City for the next Championship game.

But contrary to reports, The Bolton News understands that a fee has not yet been agreed between the two clubs.

Wanderers at first wanted Spearing on a season long loan but Liverpool – looking to raise cash for their own signings – demanded £4million.

That fee has now been reduced to £3m, although Wanderers are yet to confirm they will pay the revised price.

Championship rivals Wolves have also been reported as a possible destination for the Wirral-born ball-winner.

It'd be just as nice to demand more and get Jay a bigger piece of the fee. FSG don't strike me as remotely sentimental, and they need to generate as much money as possible.

Good luck Jay.
(BTW, going to Bolton will keep him not too far from his hometown with an eye to a quick promotion to the EPL so him choosing Bolton does make sense)
