Jaros might need a thread

He seems good from the few chances we've had to see him in action. I would happily see him play as back up if we wanted to cash in on Kelleher in Jan (should we need to sell-to-buy)

It will be interesting to see where we stand by the summer. We currently look very well stacked for talent between the sticks. My initial thoughts are to sell Kelleher, for his own good at this stage, and loan out Mamardashvili again (with a recall clause). Jaros could then step up as our number two next season.

I don’t see the benefit of Mamardashvili being a backup for us with our current options unless he genuinely wants to come and compete directly with Alisson. In that case, we should be flexible. Otherwise, Jaros—who won a League & Cup last year, so is used to being a keeper for a dominant side—could be a strong option. With time, he could become as proven and established as Kelleher. He looks very solid all around, with no glaring weaknesses in his game. He could also turn to be completely useless, but the early signs are reassuring to say the least. That save was every bit as memorable as Gakpos goals.

I have always thought you can't really analyze a keeper until they make an inevitable mistake and see whether they crack after it. Kelleher has passed that test. Jaros has looked good, that's all.

He seems to just get on with it, like Kelleher, no fuss, no drama, little of that dribbling nonsense, just putting in good save after save.

He's looked pretty accomplished already.

He didn't cover himself in glory for the first goal.
Palmed a decent strike back into a dangerous area.

Thinking like that is extremely detrimental to player development which is where the monetary value when players are concerned is.

ps WTF IS GOING ON? Are you considering me as some sort of a popular fella all of a sudden? Please cut it out.

(But, I mean, it's totally up to you.)

Nope, general consensus is still that you're a weird cunt.

How about you drop the personas and make believe background?

There was no good camera angle of that particular intervention he made. Personally, I was very curious about it but couldn't see it properly.

Aaaaand, I surely noticed what might be one of his big (but not fundamental and I think very correctable) weaknesses in the follow up save attempt for that goal. But I don't want to appear like . I . am . constantly . explaining . shit . I actually . do . not . like . that .

I don't think I would describe that as a "super save." He probably came out to the left of his goal a bit too much.* Which led him to have to run to the other side too fast. But he made it.

That save should've looked easier.

But I think he could've been very well positioned in front of his goal line. And I think his reaction couldn't be described as poor. But he did exude himself. Not something one that easily observes with Alisson, for example.

Overall, like he has perhaps been very keenly working on his proper movement and positioning recently. A very strong learner he does appear to be.

* This is something that should be very precisely assessed. Do you want to know how? Do you want to know everything?

I just hope I don't start growing to like this place 🤣🤣🤣

So far I think I prefer it as is. Absent liking.

ps Because if that were to happen I might actually regret being banned. I then I might even think in some ways fondly about my time spent here. lol

You created an account here. You wanted to join this forum. You became one of the first people we’ve banned in two years.

You then signed up again, we know, it’s not that hard to track. I allowed that.

@Mamma Mia is nice cop. He held out the olive branch, to which you weren’t polite. We’re not normally that nice!

So, if you genuinely want to stay here, stop being 101% weird. We do up to 99%.

top tip, once you’ve typed what you want to say. No qualifiers, no “p.s.” and engage with other posters.

You ARE welcome.

weird cunts are good for morale

when you’re out for drinks with ones from work it’s the weirdos you worked with 8 years ago that fuel half the chat

I think that given the situation all three should remain at the club. Alisson as the clear number one and then Mamardashvili and Jaros fighting for the number 2 position. And we see what happens. One should say that Mamardashvili might need a bit more support and encouragement because he will for the first time arrive at a big club and to England and Liverpool. He should be given proper support and encouragement until he settles in. I suspect that Jaros will have an easier time confidence- and attitude-wise stepping in for Alisson in big games as he is very much like a Liverpool boy by now. But Mamardashvili might very well be a much, much better keeper with the much greater long-term and overall potential. So that those things must be balanced properly. Liverpool and the LFC are very, very in-group environments. It will not be easy for Mamardashvili.

One might expect also Alisson to get injured again. So that it would be great to have a couple of solid goalkeepers competing as his backups. Goalkeeping being one of the very, very most most important positions at any club but especially at Liverpool now given how great Alisson is and has been over the last many years. The very best keeper in world football (and perhaps even ever) IMO.

He’s done more in a couple of games to give me more confidence than Adrian ever has.

He’s won league and cup titles as a no 1 in other countries so he would be used to some kind of pressure and coming back from mistakes.

A great third choice so far.

I feel the need to defend Adrian - people are quick to forget he deputised for Alisson at the start of the 19/20 season, winning the Super Cup and performing perfectly well for the first half dozen or so league matches, thus contributing to the league title. He did fuck up in the cups after Christmas, and everyone remembers that and use it as the stick to beat him with.

I'm not saying he was a great keeper, but remember the good as well as the bad.I very much doubt you were saying you had no confidence in him at the start of that season
