Anyone else find it odd that even though we bought eleventy hundred players in the summer we're still desperately clinging to the hope we sign a load more in January? We seem to need exactly what we needed before the summer window.
A decent keeper.
A decent centre back.
A decent holding midfielder.
A decent forward.

Not suggesting some of the summer signings won't settle into good signings eventually, but seems a bit strange to me.

Speak for yourself, mate. I am not in any way "desperate" for big January spending. For me it's more important that the injured players come back strong, Coutinho rediscovers his form, Lovren and co. gradually eliminate recurring defensive weaknesses, Balotelli adjusts to playing in our system, etc. Yes, if the right player is available we could still improve – I'd still love for us to sign Reus (despite his unfortunate injury issues) and a strong competition to Mignolet was the one summer priority position that didn't result in a new signing. But we won't buy our way out of the crisis, the only way is to improve the teamwork and understanding in the group we currently have – there is enough talent and potential there for a really good team.

Especially with the defence. There are question marks over individuals but we have signed three new defenders and we need a decent amount of games playing a settled back four so that an understanding can fully develop.

Aside from this, if Valdes comes in I wouldn't expect us to go for any of the positions listed above.

Fair enough. I just feel we are still a keeper, CB, holding mid and striker away from being any good. I hope I'm as tragically wrong about this season as I was about last season. My cup is always half empty tha knoos.

This is where I'm at too. I hope we solve Valdes for competition for Mignolet, but that won't be a January deal. Other than that, maybe we should go and get Reus now instead of waiting until the summer to sign him, clearly BVB's medical team are struggling to solve his injury issues, and I feel ours could do a much better job.
 
It's too many players. There's no way around it. It;s not that we signed badly, we just signed too many. and now we have too many integration issues. Along side a departure issue, a goalkeeping issues, multiple injury issues, an age-ing captain issue, and an expectant press waiting to portray us as another spurs. only the weak would buy that analogy (yes I'm pointing at you, man).

So many issues. Pass the tissues.
