Yep, buying Keane was an error, selling him without replacing him then compounded it. Farce and, as you say, probably cost us the title.

Agree, but In hindsight keeping Keane would probably have won us the title imho
Shouldnt have bought him, but a couple of goals from him and a few of those draws would have been 3 pointers.

what ???

you really have lost your humour mojo haven't you

AAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA !

I LOOOOVE a laugh, me !

I'm with Fox. That season I was riding on a wave. That Macheda goal (and his subsequent goals in the same 4-6 week period) kept Utd in it and ultimately won them the title.

Which is harder? A Grizzly or a Polar Bear?

Genuine question. I thinking of doing a thesis on it.

I don't a comment like this can go unanswered.

A Grizzly is harder.

Polar bears don't fight. They pick on seals by creeping up on them.
Grizzlies regularly fend off wolf packs and bully other bears and carnivores for their lunch.

It was the draws that killed us. We had about 3/4 chances to pull ahead against 'weaker' opposition (I know one of them was Wigan), and we bottled it each and every time. We lost that title because of character, and I actually think a better man manager in that position might have got the players believing they could, and should, win it.

Like the man manager who got the players believing they could and should win the champions league?

All this talk of Rafa made me think back to his time with us.

I still almost cry when I think of January 2009 and how it cost us the title.

No wins in that month in the PL, drew with Stoke, Wigan and Everton.

We were top at xmas FFS

Did Rafa's rant affect us, did we just bottle it with expectation.

I really worry that that was our last chance of a PL win for a generation, this was before Man City

What a gutter

Rafa's problem was he's stubborn. Tinker too much and favoritism.
