The picks and his comments:

Kevin Keegan - Got even better when he moved on to Hamburg, perhaps not a 'natural talent' but he always worked tremendously hard on improving himself. Fantastic player and goalscorer. Him and John Toschack, a perfect duo.

Kenny Dalglish - A player that could do everything, outstanding. A very modern footballer already back then in the 70's. A number '10' even before it was invented. Legend. Ask anyone that has played with him and 99% of them would say that he's the best they've ever played with.

John Barnes - Mølby's personal favorite player in Liverpool. Both in his younger days as a flying left winger and in his later career as a central midfielder. A truly creative, very intelligent and elegant player.

Steven Gerrard - Probably that player with the most game deciding moments for Liverpool ever. He carried the team for years almost single-handedly.

Luis Suarez - Had one truly magnificent season with Liverpool, everyone enjoyed watching him play. No-one will ever doubt his levels. Improved even further when he moved to Barca. A few dark moments doesn't shadow how fantastic he was.

Mølby haven't seen them play so he wouldn't include them: Billy Liddell, Sir Roger Hunt

Discuss!

I'd put Hansen ahead of Barnes and Souness ahead of Gerrard. IMO the only 3 certainties are Keegan, Dalglish and Suarez.

Surely Rush makes list for longitivity alone.

Suarez
Kenny
Barnes
Souness
Rush
If longevity was a factor, you'd add Ian Callaghan or Phil Neal.

For me: Suarez, Kenny and Barnes are the top 3. Rush is #4. Probably Keegan at #5, though could argue on Hansen, Souness, Clemence, Gerrard.

I have to go with

Dalglish
Gerrard
Suarez
Rush
Barnes

Tough on Souness and Hansern but I just can't ignore the fact Suarez is the finest player I have ever seen play for us. EVER!

How we could do with Souness in the side now. No love for Alonso? It's probably heretical but I always preferred him to Gerrard.

Suarez
Barnes
King
Souness
Hansen

Dalglish
Gerrard
Hansen
Barnes
Rush

For me.

Dalglish
Gerrard
Souness
Barnes
Keegan

Suarez was a great player but I don't think of him as a bona bitey fide legend because he didn't stay long enough and acted like an arse.

Omitting Suarez is the right call, in my opinion. He was and is a wonderful player to watch, top five in the world right now (arguably top on his form for Barcelona), but not top five Liverpool.

I would make a case for Fowler before I got to Suarez.

Leaving Gerrard out would be like leaving The Beatles out of your top 5 scouse bands.
Fucking hell.
Anyway.

Dalglish
Gerrard.
Souness.
Barnes.
Rush.

Harsh leaving out Hansen as he was brilliant but it wasn't that taxing a job being a central defender for Liverpool in those days as we had the ball for the majority of games.

Suarez was phenomenal but purely because it was over an 18 month period and we didn't achieve anything and the whole mess surrounding him during his stay means he isn't legend .

he would be in my top three 'best' players but not in the legend list

Applying the Gerrard Principle, The Beatles never proved themselves because they produced their best stuff during a period when they had loads of great stuff around them and still excelled them, whereas you can only really impress by looking much, much, better than the likes of McFly and Busted to really deserve the praise.

Leaving out Gerrard is a crime for those that haven't selected him.

I'm not old enough and haven't seen Rush, Dalglish, Barnes etc. play, so based on players I have seen my top 5 would be.

Gerrard
Suarez
Torres
Owen
Fowler

Dalglish,Ray Kennedy, Souness, Hansen, Gerrard.
It's all a matter of opinion who would be called "Legends".It's not just about how good you were though. is it?.Suarez is a great player but not a Liverpool Legend.A Barca legend.

Fair point about Suarez. But would not Ray Kennedy be Arsenal-legend as much as Liverpool?

He was more of a solo artist though Stevie.
More Phil Collins than Genesis.

No, I think the 5 League titles with us to the one with Arsenal,as well as the nearly twice as many appearances for us make him ours.
Then there's the three European Cups and this goal in particular when Bayern thought they were already in the Final.

How about that?

I doubt it - he was largely shit the last two years of his Arsenal career that is what made the transformation even more unbelievable - you don't sell legends particularly to your rivals , and the club had more off a choice in matters in those days

Suarez was the greatest player I've ever seen in a Liverpool shirt. If you are applying that sort of logic/ criteria Joey Jones should be in everyone's list and Barnes wouldn't
