Nice thread, well made.

Cheers Dee.

Seconded.

One minor point, it's Maxi Rodriguez rather than Gonzalez.

Luis Suarez to Finally Join Liverpool Once Babel, Voronin & Dossena Depart

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is continuing to monitor the form of Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez in regards to a January move. The Ajax star has been in superb form in Holland with reports from the Dutch press suggesting that once funds have been raised by the sale of Ryan Babel, Andrea Dossena and Andrey Voronin we will see the creative star move to Anfield.

I saw that Luis Suarez rumour but really ................ not a single quote, even one related to denying a move !

Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh’s representatives held talks with Liverpool yesterday over signing a pre-contract agreement. The Morocco ace is available on a free transfer at the end of the season and Rafa Benitez is ready to act quickly to tie up the deal.

Atletico Madrid’s Maxi Rodriguez is expected to agree terms with Liverpool over the next 24 hours.

Olympiakos have been rebuffed over an inquiry for Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun but will return with an offer for his team-mate Albert Riera. The Greek side have offered around £5million and wages of £40,000 a week tax free for Israeli Benayoun but Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez will not sell. He may be swayed on Riera, who has failed to capitalise on a good first season at Anfield.

Andrea Dossena is on the verge of completing his £4.5m transfer to Napoli but his agent says the four-and-a-half-year deal has been held up by the weather. ‘He can’t leave Liverpool because of the snow,’ said Roberto La Floria.

Meanwhile, misfit striker Andriy Voronin is expected to join Dinamo Moscow for £1.5m.

I'd love Luis Suarez to join... a genuine winger who can find the net.
[/quote]Owing to new information that has been brought to my attention, I am no longer in the least bit interested in who we sign. Because apparantly even if they turn out to be really poor, we will in all likelyhood still be able to sell them for at least a percentage of what we signed them for thus making sure that erm we have just (some) less cash than we have now. So everyones a winner really.

It seems that way.

81 games, 57 goals

I pay more attention to a strikers toenails than their scoring record in the Eredivisie

update from Footy365.com:

LIVERPOOL

INS:

OUTS: Andrea Dossena (£4.5million to Napoli), Andriy Voronin (£1.8million to Dinamo Moscow).

RUMOURED: Maxi Rodriguez (Atletico Madrid), Ruud van Nistelrooy (Real Madrid), Rafael van der Vaart (Real Madrid), Scott Parker (West Ham), Juan Mata (Valencia), Arda Turan (Galatasaray), Emile Heskey (Aston Villa), Eljero Elia (Hamburg), Carlton Cole (West Ham), Victor Moses (Crystal Palace), Roque Santa Cruz (Manchester City), Kenwyne Jones (Sunderland), Roman Pavlyuchenko (Spurs), Matthew Upson (West Ham), Aiden McGeady (Celtic), Marouane Chamakh (Bordeaux).

*little woop*

Rodriguez - Good deal for £1.5m
van Nistelrooy - Best years behind him
van der Vaart - We do this every transfer window since he was about 12
Parker - Too expensive, and not likely to replace Lucas
Mata - FORGET IT!
Turan - Too expensive
Heskey - Might as well get Fowler back
Elia - Didn't he just move there?
Cole - West ham won't sell for peanuts.
Moses - £3.5m deal to Citeh or Forest
Santa Cruz - Will pick up the pay cheques at Citeh for sitting on his backside... unlikely that Paraguay will drop him.
Jones - If they'll do a straight swap for Babel, other than that forget it.
Pavlyuchenko - Spuds will not loan him to us
Upson - Do we really need another CB?
McGeady - Since Celtic turned down a £10m bid (was it from Brum??), VERY unlikely.
Chamakh - Pre-contract been offered.

Jeremy Menez: Liverpool Move for Roma Enigma After Fallout with Ranieri

A number of Premier League clubs have been alerted by the much publicized fall-out between Jeremy Menez and his manager Claudio Ranieri at Roma. The French star is highly-rated but has never fulfilled his early promise shown at Sochaux and Monaco. However, Menez is still only 22-years-old and there are a number of Premier League clubs eyeing a potential move with Liverpool the team named as leading the chase in the Italian press.

There is no doubt that the French star possesses top drawer ability although his temperament has often been called into question. He is a highly technical player with superb dribbling and passing ability and his versatility would make him an extremely useful acquisition for Rafa Benitez particularly if he can secure Menez on a loan to buy deal as the club have little transfer funds available. The French star can play on either wing, in the hole or as a forward so would be ideal for Liverpool whose squad is not as strong in depth as some of their rivals for a top four spot.

Menez has been linked with a return to France but his agent Alain Migliaccio suggested this is unlikely although the future for the player is open. He told romagiallorossa.com, “Menez to Marseille? That is not true at the moment, while Marseille are also set to sign (Inter Milan’s) Mancini.â€

“I don’t know what the future will hold for Jeremy. I will talk with Roma next week.â€

Roma coach Claudio Ranieri has suggested that he is willing to let Menez leave. He declared, “The club has needs and we must meet them.â€

“If there are requests from other clubs for our players, we will evaluate them.

“I want to have players here who believe in the project and will give their all for the collective cause.â€

Menez was dropped from the team following a poor showing as a 75th minute substitute in the 2-2 away draw at Cagliari and has not appeared since. It would seem Ranieri has ran out of patience with the creative star and he will be leaving Rome this month. Relations between the two clubs following Alberto Aquilani’s move to Anfield and John-Arne Riise’s move to Rome are good and the Italian press claim talks are ongoing.

He was linked to us, united and Arsenal as a teenager. I haven't tracked his progress since he went to Italy? How is fairing?

I'd rather Gourcuff out of the young French players but he seems settled at Bordeaux.

I was on about him before he went to Roma and he always came up in my "who would you sign" lists. He's had a pretty mixed time of it there and obviously right now it doesn't look like it's going to end well.

On paper it sounds like a great deal, but he's not the sort of player we're known for getting the best out of.

Let's sign Jeremaine Pennez from Real Zaragoza. He's struggled a bit there but has oodles of ability. He'd give us way more pace, skill and width than Kuyt on the right. He'll probably be available on the cheap too. I know we don't always get the best out of these players but I reckon he's worth a punt. If he got a run of games, surrounded by a really good set of players like Torres and Gerrard, he could be amazing.
