Didn't he do his hamstring last night?

And as for sturridge, i like him, i think he'd be good for us, but he can fuuuuuuuuuuuuck off

I believe so, hence my reference to the medical. If that clears him (and if we maybe get a discount off the price because of the injury), Ba's your uncle.

Good old Stoke - they passed on him because of his knee and then signed Owen, who has just done his hammie for the 1000th time whilst working in the gym.

Good luck to Sturridge in trying to convince Rafael Benitez to (1) play you in the centre or (2) drop Torres. I'm sure your attitude will sway him to your cause.

Nah. See you again in 2013 when your contract is slooowwwly running out and you're stuck behind the dugout with the crazy goatee man....

Seems we're being linked with Ba today. I'd far sooner sign him if his medical stands up.

I think with Ba we may have to accept that his medical will show he's a risk. But in theory he has been a risk for the past half a dozen years and yet has played over 30 games a season each season.

The Sturridge story has been rubbished already, but LES claim we're in negotiations with Chelsea

That's certainly true as far as his long-standing knee problems go, but I'd want to be reassured that the addition of this hamstring tweak which he's now apparently got doesn't have major implications. If not, I reckon he'd be a far better bet than Sturridge.

Apparently specifying exactly how much much he wants to be paid and where he is prepared to play.
As was said hidden in Macca's post, his manager said any alleged demands in the press are not true.
In fact he said they don't do their negotiations through the press, which might be a problem for them as it seems all to often we do.

Perhaps, Vlad, but Sturridge has previous. He flounced out of Citeh when they didn't see eye to eye with his own idea of how much football he should be getting.

I don't necessarily think that this is massive issue. I would have less respect for him if he was content to suck up his wages and play in the League Cup. As a young footballer that has desires to play for his country, he wants to play as much as possible. If that was not going to happen at Citeh, then he did his best to get out of that situation.
He has an attitude for sure, but maybe that is what is needed for a confident striker. In fact, I'd suggest that we need more "piss and vinegar" up front. Sterling, Borini (and Downing) were/are hardly scaring the pants off opposition defences.

Some fair points there, and I have no problem with a player changing clubs in order to get more first team football if he's done a bit in the game already. However, Sturridge was a teenager at the time, which to me shows he was a sight more up himself than players ought to be, at that age anyway. Attitude in a striker is fine (I don't think Sterling lacks it BTW and I reckon it's too soon to tell with Borini - the Chav fans were sorry to see him go) but I want it directed at the opposition on the field, not at the player's own manager for taking decisions he happens not to like.

I think Good Spam makes a good point, a lot of strikers have an edge to them, so what?
Robbie Fowler was hardly a saint, when it came to attitude, but everyone thinks The Lying Rag shines out of his arse. Rooney is a right twat, likewise Tevez, Drogba, Ibrahimovic, Maradona, Ronaldo (all of them), oh let's not forget Suarez either, in fact a large percentage of the great strikers and players are, that is just the way it is and helps to make them what they are.

I want my players to be great players not nice people, if they are that's great , but it's secondary.

Reminds me of the Joe Cole "I need to play in the middle and get 100K" a week times.

Which worked out so well for us.

A fucking excellent result would be doing a straight swap of either cisse or ba for the long haired pissed up gypo. But seeing as he's on loan until the season, and the fact he's shite and both of those strikers are decent, I can't see it happening.
I'm not sure what he's planning for Jan, I'm sure both Walcott and Sturridge are options, but expensive fussy fucking options. Both want to play up top, every game, and want loads of cash.

That video is like a football version of Brad Pitt's cologne advert. Fucking hell.

The problem I have with Sturridge is the reported fee. He's done nothing to warrant a 15M price tag and if we're going to spend that kind of money on potential I think we can do better elsewhere.

Was reported yesterday that we've bid 8 mill or something. The video and commentary is bad, but the fact that he's involved in such a great project is a good thing imho.

aah...the guvna.

Why are we considering buying him back? I mean all things considered he was pretty meh when he was here. Didn't stand out like Suso, Sterling etc.

I know. But he's scoring. I don't think he's good enough by the way but to dismiss him just because he wasn't good enough in the past is a silly argument.

So he is good enough? Strange that not one of the clubs were he was on loan bought him, or that any of our managers have played him.

Looks good at reserve level, but in the end not good enough for the first team.

Pacheco has to learn to be effective from the wider positions or else he will struggle to get minutes for the first team. He seems a talented player to me, but he'll have to prove himself useful to the manager.
