Exactly. And their whole business model is based around grooming, hyping up and selling players to rich clubs. For every Ronaldo or Deco there seems to be 10 expensive flops coming out of Portugal.

I'd say that's correct, i saw a european game between Maretimo and some Dublin based team a few years back. And the Dublin team were semi-pro's who were all fairly shite. And Maretimo had finished third or fourth in the Portuguese league and didn't look much better
