or are there many Liverpool supporters who also doesn't want to see us spend big on a striker?

Please don't spend 20m+ on a striker Rafa unless you have another 20m+ for a winger and another for a fullback. I'm all for buying potential and I would love to see the likes of Lavezzi here but I don't think we should spend a big percentage of our budget on a striker to sit on the bench.

Rafa has said many times that he sees Gerrard playing in a more forward role with Torres so I really hope he would splash the cash on a winger and a cheaper but decent forward to be a backup for Torres/Gerrard.

We need another World class player in an attacking position.

I'm not really that arsed whether he turns out to be a target man, a nippy goalsneak, a winger, an in-the-hole type, or a right midfielder.

Essentially we need someone approaching the quality of Torres & Gerrard in an attacking position to take the weight of those two, provide something extra, cover for them whilst their inevitably injured, and to scare the shit out of the opposition in the way Stevie and Fernando do.

Who that is? I haven't a fucking clue. Could be anyone from Ribery to Tevez to Silva to Villa to Joe fucking Bloggs, fact remains we have to go get one. In plenty of other positions - we can get by with options; Right-back, cover at centre-back, another midfielder if required. In an attacking sense, we shouldn't be sparing the pennies though. Rafa got us a Torres before by spending big and bold. Time to do the same again this summer.

One injury to Torres and we are f*cked, end of discussion.

We need another player who can lead the line when he's injured/needs a rest.

And to get that we need to spend big. The only real success in an attacking sense we have had under Rafa was Torres.

And when I say success I mean straight off the bat in their 1st season. To get that quality you need to spend.

We really need a LW too but a striker is just as vital for me.

He was missing for a lot of last season, and i'd hardly say we were 'fucked'. He scored a lot less goals last season than in his first with us and we coped. Should we buy a world class back up for Gerrard too? I'm sure we'd be equally, if not more fucked if we lost Gerrard.

I'm not saying we don't need back up for him, but we don't need to spend big on a new striker. Unless, that is, you are advocating switching back to 442, as I can't see Villa sitting on the bench until Nando needs a rest. If we do then it means dropping Gerrard back to CM and breaking his system with Nando, which i'd hate to see go. I'd rather buy a really good up and coming young striker who'd love to play for our club and play when we need him, rather than disrupting the system we have already by demanding regular starts. That, and a top class LM.
